Has done wonders for my 7 year old daughter! She’s showing more personal confidence and comfort in her own body. She loves coach Tony and has made lots of new friends. Highly recommend McHugh BJJ!

As the father of a very active 5 year old girl and 3 year old boy I was looking to get my kids into an activity that would help improve their focus, confidence, and self esteem. With in 1 class I knew McHugh BJJ was a perfect fit. Professor Pete, Coach Tony, and the rest of the staff are knowledgeable, welcoming, and keep every student engaged in every class. They know everyone's name and make the academy a place where you feel like family. After I saw the kids having so much fun, I could not wait to jump on the mat myself. Now I look forward to class everyday, and am excited we have an activity we can all do together. Get in here, focus, and train. I can't imagine a better place to learn BJJ!!

Words really can't describe what you get when you walk through the doors at this school, the feeling is truly unparallel to anything else. You are greeted by Professor Pete (also the owner) every time you walk in the door because to him you aren't just another member. He is very very proud of the people that make up his school and takes a great deal of pride in us, however, his students are just as proud to call him professor more than he probably knows. In my personal opinion, Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu is the easiest hard thing you will ever do. It takes hard work, dedication and a strong will, once you have that, the rest falls into place and this becomes the most fun you will probably ever have. The real reason for that is the people you do it with and the people coaching you. Professor Pete, Coaches Tony, Pete (everyone's favorite crazy uncle), Al, Yara and Battle are in my opinion the greatest people you would ever want to learn from. They teach to your level and give you amazing feedback so when the class is over the only thing you can think about is "when can I get to the next class"? To get this group of coaches all in one place is truly special. Whether you want to learn BJJ, lose weight, learn self-defence or are just a fan of MMA/UFC, this is the premier school in NJ without question. It is a fun, friendly, atmosphere that welcomes everyone to come in. Maybe I am a little biased because of my positive experience here but I tell everyone that will listen to check it out and see for themselves. You will be hooked after day one, I know I was.

I’m new to BJJ and I trained briefly at another school but due to their limited amount of beginners classes and because I enjoy learning BJJ so much, I need a place with a versatile schedule. Highly recommend to anyone interested in learning or someone who is continuing their training

I've only been at McHugh for a week or so, but I can already tell this is a great place to learn the art of BJJ. The coaches are extremely friendly, encouraging, and helpful. All of the fellow gym members I've interacted with have been personable and welcoming. Everyone comes to learn and truly leaves their ego at the door, which can be rare in jiu jitsu. A big emphasis is placed on proper techniques and progression through a well thought out curriculum, which again can be sometimes hard to find at other facilities. I've trained for 2 years prior to coming to McHugh, but I plan to stay here for as long as I'm living in the area.
