Aruande Capoeira

I love going to capoeira. Our Mestre is one of the Best! Capoeira will always be part of my life. I feel guilty when I don't go to class! :) Love it!

Wow where do I start?! We tried another class with another group first and it didn't even compare. From the very beginning it was evident that a MESTRE was teaching the classes. The level of instruction that is given unbeknownst to the students is staggering. My sons started at 5 and 7, now 9 and 11. One is able to do backflips, the other is able to the higher level acrobatics within capoeira. Mestre Demetrius has an absolutely uncanny ability to teach to all age groups and all ability levels. He truly is gifted at making adjustments for you ability level so you are receiving the same instruction. My sons trained for a year, then I began training. It was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. I played collegiate football and have been looking for years for something to physically and mentally fill that gap, ARUANDE Capoeira is it. As the other reviews have stated, classes are organized, skill focused and fun. As a collegiate athlete I struggled a little with this art, but the students new and old were very very helpful and exceedingly encouraging. As a result of my family's dedication, our Mestre's knowledge, and the groups support we have traveled outside of Houston on several occasions to various events and have created many great friendships. We have also learned a new language and a new culture that has broadened my family's horizons. Our circle of friends has grown outside of the US stretching from Canada to Brazil. You will be very hard pressed to find a Mestre that is more respected than Mestre Demetrius or a group that is more welcoming. This martial art truly is what I feel is the most expansive, inclusive, challenging, and fun of any martial art you will encounter. Take the time out of your day to try a class, you will not regret it not one bit.

I was in a group back in 2001 till 2003 due to work had to sadly quit... I was doing boxing and saw that it was'nt enough. I googled Capoeira in Houston and saw Aruande Capoeira and what was eye catching was the YouTube Videos of Mestre Demetrius and his incredible Capoeira, I told my self... "Thats where I want to be!!!". Mestre welcomed with alot of heart, he shows he loves teaching, he loves children, his Capoeira and far most all his students!!! The class mates are so awesome!!! The class mates show respect and and a warm welcome! I have a goal in this group and if you Love Capoeira as much I do... You will here

I LOVE Aruande Capoeira!! This group is comprised of incredible instructors and friendly students. Whether you want to learn capoeira, expand your knowledge of Brazilian culture, or are just looking for a fun way to get into shape, Aruande Capoeira is the perfect group! I lost 20 pounds in two months, became more flexible, and had more energy than when I began. From your first class you will feel welcomed by the laid-back and friendly attitude of Aruande students. This group is helpful to new students and continues to challenge even the most seasoned ones! Come out and join us in the roda, we'd love to meet you! :-)

If you are looking to workout and have a GREAT time, then this is for you!!! I started capoeira by hearing about this group through a friend. The people are AMAZING and VERY welcoming. Capoeira is an awesome workout, and I have been able to see the results within the first couple of times. I am more tone, flexible and physically strong. I have had back problems all of my life, and since starting capoeira, my back pain has decreased tremendously! I plan my week around going to have fun with Aruande Capoeira!!
