In March of 2014, I saw Teres Wright for some work on my eyelids, eyebrows, and lips. Teres did an outstanding job, and she was professional in every way a client would expect her to be. At that time, I knew I would return to see her again in a few years for a color refresh.
In May 2017, I attempted to make an appointment with Teres. Based on the contact information on her website, I left VMs and sent emails, but I received no response. When I was about to give up, I was finally contacted by her daughter, Michael, who set up an appointment with Teres for August 3, 2017. Two weeks before August 3, 2017, I called for confirmation of my appointment. I only got their voice mail, so I left a message. For days, I received no call back. Again, I left several VMs and sent emails, but I received no response until the night of August 2nd when Michael informed me that Teres was no longer in the business and only she, Michael, was available to refresh my tattoos. I rescheduled for August 11, 2017, with Michael, as this was the earliest date she was available.
On August 11, 2017, I met with Michael to refresh the work Teres had done in 2014. When I left that evening, we both agreed she would do my touchup on November 3, 2017, and she would contact me in advance to confirm the appointment.
On October 23, 2017, I tried to contact Michael to make sure November 3rd was still a go. Her voice mailbox was full, so I had to send an email. I never received a response. I kept trying to reach her by phone and finally the mailbox was emptied, so I was able to leave a VM. I still did not hear from her. From October 23, 2017, until November 2, 2017, I left several voice messages, and I sent several emails trying to connect with her. I received no replies of any kind. Her voice mailbox became full again for a second time, and I could no longer leave messages.
On November 2, 2017, I sent an email to an address that I had used to correspond with Teres in 2014 explaining what was going on and that I needed to know if I should show for my appointment on November 3rd or not. That night around 9 p.m. Michael contacted me saying she was not available for November 3rd, but I could select any date after November 20th for my touchup.
I selected December 1st for my rescheduled follow-up appointment. I let her know this date in multiple emails and phone messages but again she never responded to any of my emails or voice messages as to whether the date I selected was okay with her.
Even though I am a patient person, I finally gave up on Michael. It was quite clear to me she was running the business as a part time venture and did not understand her ethical obligation to communicate with her clients. I was dismayed by the way she treated me since I had already paid her in full for a service she still owed me. The only recourse I had was to find a reputable permanent artist at additional expense to do my touchup.
In summary, I paid Michael $950 to refresh my eyebrows, eyelids, and lips, which included a free touchup that she never afforded me due to her non-communicative behavior. I’ve never experienced such poor customer service in my life as I have at Permanent Beauty this time around. Furthermore, Michael’s tattoo work left me needing a touchup because she did not tattoo my eyebrows symmetrically, she used a color two shades too dark for my skin’s undertone, and the color she used will turn bluish grey in 18 months. Also, she tattooed my upper lip unevenly and caused a dark, visible mark on it from penetrating the skin too deeply that will require more than a touchup.
I wanted to believe that Permanent Beauty remained as good as it had been in 2014 when I saw Teres, but that is not the case. My unpleasant experience with Michael--her constant ignoring of my calls and emails and her incomplete and disappointing tattoo work - leaves me unable to recommend Permanent Beauty Makeup in Rockville, MD, to anyone.
