For people who really want a Bible based Christian school and their children to graduate with high academics and Christian, Biblical morals and standards -- this is the most excellent church, school, and christian camp you'll ever find. As graduates of this fine school -- Mountainside Academy -- my family was given the opportunity to excel both academically and spiritually. Families are built on God's word and His foundation of marriage. Genesis 2:24 Marriage is between a man and woman. This is not judgmental this is God's word and by following it we can avoid problems in this life. Church is a foundation of truth which Christians should find a good Bible based church and attend on a weekly basis -- as it is healthy for the Body, Soul, and Mind. Education is based on the home and family, and this church and school will educate according to God's standards, His Word, and solid Math, English, Science, etc. Mountainside church and school has been around 40yrs with hundreds and thousands of success stories. College graduates, people in the business world, medical field, military, police force, great homemakers and family members, community leaders and much more -- have positively resulted from their education and experience here at Mountainside Ministries.

Can I give this school Zero stars? I was SO excited to have my child attend this school until we met with the “principal.” She has absolutely zero personality, horrible communication skills and is one of the most judgemental people I’ve ever met. You would think a principal of a private Christian academy that takes over $300 a month from you would interact with the kids better and be sweet. Most principals anywhere do. She was none of those. She then upset my daughter telling her she’d have to take her earrings out if she wanted to attend that school. My daughter just got her ears pierced and was so excited about it and the principle just didn’t care or show any sympathy. I get uniforms and stuff, but that was a little much. She then took us on a bunk tour driving horribly in the golf cart and towards the end handed us a packet saying we had to meet all of the requirements which one was being a married family for the kid to attend and mandatory church service at their church (if you could even call it that) When I mentioned my child’s father (who was with us) and I weren’t married she then pushed marriage on us and told us “well the next school year starts in June so you have til June , so go get married.” We couldnt believe that! We’re a very strong committed family in all that we do and a complete team, married yet or not. We were disgusted by the judgemental comments she made as well. And she went on this rant about how times have changed and women need to work now and when she asked what I did and I mentioned Ive been a stay at home mom until our daughter started school (who barely turned 4) she hugged me dramatically and just went overboard with “well must be nice” comments. I rarely ever complain nor do I judge but I want the truth put out there about our experience with this church. This being after I read horrible reviews about the church being cult like, we still wanted to see for ourselves being that we had such high hopes. Do not recommend.

I attended this school for 3 years and recently transferred due to my desire to advance in my academics and prepare myself for colege. First of all, this school is very unaccepting of people for who they are and unwilling to help. With that said, they expelled 2 girls for being lesbian. I feel that If they were really there to support these 2 girls, they wouldv'e helped them overcome their "immoral" feelings instead of just kicking them out. They advertise that they will raise your kids to be good Christian People, but this is false, since in the end, its ultimately your kid's decision to do so and you can't force them. In the past 5 years, only 4 students have graduated (there should have been five, but one girl dropped out). Two of these graduates fell in the wrong path and haven't kept their faith since graduating. More recently, there was a student who attempted suicide and was not given the support they needed, and eventually left because they begged their parents to take them out of this school (most likely caused by the isolated eviroment that this school provides). On campus kids have done immoral things behind their backs, but the staff are/were unaware of it, and when addressed, they just assume that they are "rumors". Academically, this school is very lackluster, and they do not prepare students whatsoever for college. The curriculum is very easy and requires little to no skill (it is the ACE curriculum if you want to Research) and there are no opportunities at this school to get above a 4.0 GPA (Since they do not offer any weighted or AP classes), and students do not get to choose classes for themselves. You are forced to choose Spanish (Rosetta Stone) and Typing (a kids Computer Apllication) as electives which aren't even real clasees (since they were just downoaded for free off the net). As for main Academics (Math, English, "Word Building", History, and Science), the books (PACES) rely heavily on memorization, and don't really give kids and opportunity to learn. Kids correct their own work and often cheat (which I never did because I don't believe in that). There are no opportunities at this school for College Prep classes (such as AVID), so students usually leave this school with a blurred vision of college, since these teachers are not trained for college prep. The student body is very small, and leaves students with no room to socialize. Currently there are less than 5 high school students. Yes, less than 5 total(from what I know there is one Senior and one Junior at the moment). Lastly, half of the 5-star reviews are from people who work at this facility. Christine Woods is a Teacher here, Christina Fambrough is the principal, and Michael Silla is the principal's brother.

Christina Lambrough the “principal” of this school is hateful, rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. My family has never been treated the way we were treated by her the other day. After some research on the church and it’s pastor I’m glad we dodge this bullet. I feel bad for the following.
