Amazing. Caring. Community. Fun. Encouraging. Personal. Impactful. These are the words that come to mind when I think of The Kings Academy. My 3 daughters currently attend this school and this is their second year at TKA. I have seriously been blown away by this school. We live in one of the best school districts in the Bay Area but this school is overwhelming more impressive by leaps and bounds. The staff and teachers care about my children in and outside of the classroom. Many of them show up for their athletic games, performances and even personal events outside of school. They really care about who they are becoming as a person, not just as a student. The families are super involved and really want the best for their kids in terms of community and culture. I truly appreciate that my daughters are forming their own relationship with Christ and what that means to them in their lives. They've learned to stand up for others in their school, expect more from themselves in terms of personal character and encouraging others to live their best lives. They have some of the best mission service trips around the world that I've ever seen and the students really learn a lot about service, gratitude and how they can make an impact on others. The academics is challenging but it's not cut throat like other schools. There's no pressure to be ALL AP all the time. They encourage following your passion and pushing yourself in those areas but not because you have to. The school is a perfect size, not too big, not too small. They offer all the sport teams, visual performing arts and have an amazing marching band and robotics team. I am amazed that they can do all this on what I consider a very reasonable tuition by Bay Area standards. I CANNOT recommend this school enough! One of my comments to others when I talk about TKA is "I feel like we've won the lottery to be able to attend this school". It's THAT good!

Before you read this, I want to let you know I STILL recommend this school despite the stuff I'm about to say. Please read the full, honest review: I've been here for the past 3 years. This school honestly tries its best to be a good, Christian school, and I believe that they achieved that. The teachers are Christ followers and they show that in the way they act, but sometimes they can be strict because they are following the school's rules. For example, if your phone goes off they immediately take it from you and you have to go through a whole process with a bunch of staff and the vice principal just so you can get it back a week or so later. Another example is demerits. I personally think that these are necessary to keep the school safe from what students can do, but conduct reports are sometimes outrageous. You can get demerits by getting a conduct report... I once got one for forgetting my textbook. The teacher didn't give me a lot of demerits, I just thought it was stupid to do that kind of thing because it was one mistake and Christians should be able to forgive someone, right? This school is also great from its students. They try their best to teach them the love of Jesus, and I think thats great. Sometimes though, I see students talk about things about other people or make fun of them and they get conduct reports and they get sent to Saturday School or something. But this does not happen to all students. Some students tell the bullies to stop and they report on them to the teachers who handle the situation well. That's what i like about this school. Also some people can be rude sometimes, including some students (the cashiers) who work at the student store. Like, 90% of them are nice, but some are busy talking to their other friends and not paying attention to you when you want to buy stuff. They also "WHAT" at you (with an angry-ish tone, because I am "ruining their conversation with their friend" supposedly) when you are clearly tying to get their attention because they are on their phones. Also, if you want something, and you are waiting in line, it takes you 5 minutes to realize that those people in front of the line ARE THE CASHIER'S FRIENDS and that THEY WERE TALKING TO THEM AND HOLDING UP THE LINE AND NOT CARING ABOUT THE 30+ PEOPLE BEHIND THEM WHO WANT FOOD. I just gave 3 stars because I hate their rules, conduct reports, Saturday School, and some rude students. I do not believe that is fair and just to the students of TKA because they are kinda strict with their rules. I still recommend this school to anybody, though.
