I got my hair cut by Sara. She's super sweet and attentive. Gave me exactly the cut I wanted. She even brought me chilled water to drink during my appointment. I'd say their prices are middle of the road and I appreciate that they were able to get me in at the end of my work day. Will go again :)

When I think of the worst nail experience I have ever have in my life, I think of Salon Royal. I am happy to see a review where someone felt the same way I did - that the employee did not listen to what was wanted and did what they thought was best instead. That is not how customer service should operate, especially when it comes to appearance/something on your body etc. I went in to Salon Royal as a recommendation from someone who’s opinion I thought I could trust - unfortunately it did not work out that way. I wanted long oval shaped/pointy acrylic nails, something that a few years ago was unheard of here in Humboldt county, although in more urban areas I am sure they were seeing it all over the place. I know I wasn’t some crazy freak that was the only one in the world who ever wanted this done, but that is what this lady looked at me like when I came in with photos of what I wanted. I literally wanted a very light nude almost clear polish, which she also did not have. Really??? Out of that whole batch of nail polishs you didn’t have anything like what I wanted? I was shocked, it was something so basic! I had somewhat long acrylics on already and so over the phone when making the appointment we discussed this and she said she made an entire hour me, so she could remove my old nails and put on entirely new ones. After coming in and seeing the photos I brought she actually told me that she didn’t have enough time scheduled, and also that it was impossible to remove my old nails, that I would have to grow them out and slowly put “her” acrylic onto my nails because I had previously had my original nails put on at the mall and that stuff was “too toxic” for her to deal with. I sat there in shock and kind of just let her go on and on, knowing everything she told me was BS, I knew that you could just soak them in acetone and scrape them off (exactly what I did when I got home with the nails she had me leave with). I couldn’t believe the way she talked to me, looked at me, it was crazy. I felt like I was in a mad house. She painted my nails this horrible nude color and literally filed them down SQUARE and SHORT. I could grow my nails out that long naturally, they were so short. I walked out of there in so much shock and disbelief. Still to this day I laugh about how off the rail this appointment went. I also wonder if anyone has come in requesting this nail style since then? I would love to know what happened if they did! This place was country with a capital C. I wouldn’t ask for anything except cap highlights and short acrylics meant for a 16 year old going to prom. I honestly think these people need to expand their horizons :)

Very nice place to have your hair cut, styled and colored.

I really wanted to like this place. It's near my home and I wanted to support my neighborhood business. They made accommodations for me. I was really grateful for that. I told the hairdresser how I wanted my hair colored. Drastic chunky bleached sections to contrast my black hair. It was a little edgy, but that's how I roll. She tamed down my vision so much. I came out with those little whispy highlights looking like a soccer mom. When I say go big or go home, I mean it. Listen to your customer. I went back for the hair dresser to correct her mistake and was told that it wasn't correctable, but she'd try. I paid over 140.00 (being conservative to be fair) for the service, tip and product twice. They never offered a financial compensation or a complimentary attempt at correcting their bad hair job. Went back in a 3rd time and they keep sticking me with the same hair dresser so I canceled. Won't be back. 3 stars for being accommodating and taking me in for an appointment at 8am after making a 430pm appointment the previous afternoon. Also, they serve coffee and wine while you are getting your hair done. I enjoyed that.
