I'm calling back when they open again on Monday and will update my review if this is fixed at all. I had an appointment with Helen this afternoon and am very disappointed. I called to book the session and said I wanted a short haircut no blow dry. On their website this is listed as being $30. Important for later. My appointment got pushed back by half an hour, which luckily wasn't a huge deal since I wasn't busy. Right away when I came in, the service was kind of weird. The woman behind the desk told me to have a seat in the back, so I sat on a bench and waited. The woman comes back and says I'm not in the right place. She hasn't introduced herself or anything and I've never been here so I have no idea where she wants me to be. After asking, it turns out she's going to wash my hair and wanted me to sit in the shampoo chair. I sit down and she continues to sweep and answer the phone, leaving me awkwardly sitting on the reclined shampoo chair with no apron or towel. She then puts a plastic shopping bag in the back of my shirt??? I guess to keep water from dripping? Super uncomfortable. She then has me wait with my hair dripping in the middle of the salon while another stylist packs up her things from the chair she wants me to go to. There were plenty of open chairs so I don't know why this was necessary. My stylist arrives and I show her the picture of the style I want done. My hair is very short, and stylists usually use clippers on the back. She begins by trying to cut it, and then decides to use clippers. I tell her the setting I've used in the past, and she balks, saying she doesn't want me to look like a boy. I don't care that much, so I just said fine. She used a higher setting instead, which would have been okay if she hadn't left clear clipper lines on both sides of my head. She then cut the top without blending it at all. It's very uneven. Also the cutouts around my ears aren't even, either. She also left halfway through my haircut because someone wanted to take a selfie with her outside the salon? No warning or apology for that, just stranded me in the chair. The woman who washed my hair just laughed... At this point I honestly thought about leaving, but my hair is usually super easy and I've only had like 1 or 2 bad haircuts in my whole life, so I figured this would just be a case of bad service, but an ok cut. After she began taking off the apron, she decides to make some finishing touches, getting hair all over me. When wiping it off, she knocks my glasses into a pile of hair, no apology or acknowledgement of that. Finally, we're done. I go to pay and Helen tells me the price is $75. I show the website and she tells me that's the price for men. It does not say a men's haircut and I show her this. She says she can discount it to $50. I say fine but it's really not right. She goes on and on about how men's haircuts are different and how she spent 2 hours with me. First of all, she used the clippers on me which she says she has "never used on a girl before" so I guess in her views, she gave me a men's haircut, and second, I arrived just past 5:30 and was paying her at 6:25. She didn't even wash my hair, so she was with me 45 minutes max. She tells me other salons are more expensive, I tell her I would've just booked it elsewhere if I had known. I finally just leave after telling her I've never paid $50 for a haircut where the stylist walked out on me halfway through. I thought that would be the end of it, but when I went home and saw how uneven it was and the clippers lines in my hair, I'm even madder than I was. I will call them on Monday and see if they will refund my money or have someone else fix my hair. I will edit my review if this is fixed, but I'm not holding my breath on that.

If your looking for an eclectic bunch this is the place. I agree, there is a communication barrier but once you figure that out and adjust the way you communicate, it's a great place. Helen actually cut my hair. I didn't get the cut I expected but it was the best quality hair cut I ever had and it looked great on me. It was a pleasant surprise. I would definitely recommend this place and I will come back for the next one.
