It's a singular experience coming to this salon. The owner, Jamila, has an infectiously upbeat energy about her. Her raw talent for being able to, properly assess what your natural hair needs are and provide you with a plan to repair any damage in just a few seconds, is something I fully appreciate. As long as she has a place open to serve clients, I will be one of them.

The hair services coincidentally, includes a healing spirit for the soul. My daughter, Makkai loves this hair care facility! They're great with children. I feel absolutely secure leaving Makkai in the "Families" care and allowing them to work their magic.

The vibe of the salon is beautiful and it's nicely decorated. The salon prefers that you come in for a consultation before making an appointment. I go to the consultation about a deep condition and trim, at this time my hair is about bra strap length. I also say I'd like to come back again in a month to have my hair styled for my college graduation. The stylist who looked at my hair during my consultation says I should only need half an inch to an inch cut off. About a week later I come for my appointment for a deep condition and trim. I have a different stylist than the one who did the consultation?? Not sure why they didn't tell me who my appointment was with-but I go with it. It takes this stylist about 5 hours to blow dry and trim, ridiculous but I think nothing of it. About halfway through the trim I realize the bottom part of my hair no longer touches my shoulders, 4 inches are off of my hair. And when I ask if I needed that much cut off she just says yeah but says she'll keep the rest of the hair on top longer. THEY CHARGE ME EXTRA FOR A CUT EVEN THO I WANTED A TRIM. I stayed calm and nice because I trusted this stylist. I get my hair braided, when I unravel my hair about a week later I realize how completely uneven my hair is. Much worse than I expected. MY HAIR IS NOW RUINED. I could no longer wear it out for my graduation and when I call about extension styles (listed on the website) they say they no longer do them. I'm honestly so upset that the stylist clearly didn't know how to communicate with customers and now my hair is completely uneven and short. Just another shop who claims they do "natural hair" when all they mean is they do locs!!!!

I have been with futurist expression for two years now and I love every bit of it. I have never regretted any moment with them. They are nice, respectful to the clients, have good conversations and keep you entertain. Most of all, they are best at what they do. I can't imagine any better place than the futurist. I love them and as long as I have locs, they are stuck with me. I encourage you to let them touch your hair with their magic.
