I have banked with Stillman for years and never had a bad experience.

Feb 6, 2012
I visited Stillman Bank in Rochelle to have two documents notarized. I had my IDs, and money to pay for services if needed. Instead of courtesy, the clerk tried to send me off with some malarkey about national security prohibiting them from offering Notary service to non-members. Her supervisor just kept repeating "I'm sorry" in a non-committal way, with an expression that said she was anything but. I asked if there was anywhere in town to receive notarization, and they just said "I'm sorry" in curt tones. Clearly they just wanted me to leave and were willing to lie to me both directly and by omission in order to make me go. There was no reason for these two to treat me like garbage. In this day and age, with the wreck that the financial industry has made of the economy, banks and their employees should be making an effort to demonstrate their services to their communities. My visit today determined that my wife and I will be better served finding another bank here in town. We have been trying to decide which institution to bank with, and now that I understand the caliber of condescension they display at Stillman Bank Corp of Rochelle, I'm not even going to visit these clowns to pay my property taxes. IF YOU LIVE IN ROCHELLE, AND NEED EXCELLENT BANKING SERVICE: Leave the Stillman parking lot with haste, turn left, and travel less than a mile to Holcomb State Bank, like I will from now on. They offer free Notary service if you have 2 valid forms of ID. Holcomb also has a lower ATM fee, their branch office is nicer, and their people are not only friendly but genuinely helpful as I learned today.
