DO NOT buy from this jeweler; the owner is CROOKED. I bought 22k gold earrings from him a few months back - while I purchased them, he verbally confirmed (and wrote on the receipt) that they were nothing but 22k gold (I was mainly concerned my ears would have a reaction to other metals). Within a week of wearing them, the inner core of the earrings turned bright green (you know... like oxidized copper) and my ears became badly infected. I brought them back to the jeweler and very politely showed the earrings to him with the receipt (saying 22k gold). The moment I started speaking to the owner he began stammering and raising his voice, nervously interrupting me and talking over me. Without even giving me a chance to explain, he began to insist the earrings were simply dirty and had accumulated sweat, refusing to acknowledge the obvious bright green hue. I remained calm and polite and didn't accuse him of intentionally misleading customer, giving him the chance to call it and honest mistake and make things right. He began to raise his voice, however, and told me I was free to have the earrings assayed. He said if they turned out to be any less than 22k gold he would refund my money +$100. I was fairly confident that if I came back (with or without an assayer's report) he would not let me into the shop, and so I asked him politely to give me that same promise in writing. I will stress here that I was VERY collected and polite during this whole interaction, as much as it tested my patience. The moment I asked the owner to simply write down his verbal guarantee, he completely lost his temper. He began shouting - saying he would not give me anything in writing and that he would call the police to throw me out of the shop, and that if I wanted to say anything else I should do so in court. During this time a number of people walked in the shop. They saw the owner yelling at a customer who was speaking calmly and politely, and realized it was best to stay away. I suggest everyone else do the same.
