BUYER BEWARE!!!! If I could give zero stars, I WOULD! This issue is currently being addressed with corporate due to the lack of decency, competence, and customer service of the employees of this store.
I purchased a ring in January for my mother's 50th birthday. The ring needed to be sized and she took it in in May. She was quoted $56.99 for the resizing and was told it would take 10 days. Two weeks later, she called the store to check on it and the employee told her it hadn't gone out and that they would send it as soon as possible and confirmed the price of $56.99. My mother received a call a few days ago, saying the ring was ready for pick up.
I went to pick up the ring today and the employee charged me an extra 26.99 fee. I was unaware of the originally confirmed price, so my card was charged. She then pulled a pushy, aggressive, and used car salesman tactic to try to get my husband to buy a watch. She even went so far as to refer to me as "the boss" and tried to guilt trip me into "allowing" my husband to buy a watch. DO NOT demean my husband by making him feel as though I control his decisions! He is a grown man and if he wanted to buy a watch he would have, but after that comment alone, we were both disgusted by the degrading comments and left the store insulted and upset. The employee had boxed the ring without allowing me to check it, but luckily I did check the ring once we exited the store.
There was a diamond missing from the ring, which I was able to see without any magnification. I brought the ring back into the store immediately. The employee checked the ring and said I was mistaken and that it was part of the design. I went back and forth with her three times, until she pulled the same ring from the case to compare and still said I was mistaken. She handed me both rings to confirm and with her magnifying glass, I could plainly see that there was indeed a diamond missing. She FINALLY admitted that she saw the same when I told her which exact stone it was. She then quickly took the rings away and said that they would send another ring out for sizing and made sure that I had already paid for the sizing of the ring. She gave me a receipt for the new sizing order.
I am absolutely furious and completely and utterly disappointed in the lack of concern and care from Zales. The only reason that I bought this ring from Zales, is because my husband has bought his watches and my engagement ring from Zales in the past, but after this catastrophe of an experience and feeling so cheated and deceived by the two employees and Zales, there won't be a chance that my family will be spending any more of our hard earned money here. I feel as though the employees were purposefully being devious in their actions and used our unusual circumstance as an opportunity to take advantage of us. I am so disgusted by a business that claims to have a long history of caring for their customers, when there was absolutely no care or even an extra thought given to us after so many different frustrating experiences.
I have now been charged the original $499.00 for the ring, $56.99 for a sizing, $26.99 for only God knows what, and I still have no ring in my possession for my mother to enjoy for her now six months delayed birthday gift. This is unacceptable service and I can not tolerate being treated like this and I would rather have my mother enjoy a ring of quality and be treated with respect at another jeweler, rather than her have to wear something that will constantly be a reminder of the complete incompetence of this store and the deceitful experience with Zales that this has been.
