Snow Leopard was recommended to me and unfortunately I did not have the same experience as others. Ali is a very personable fellow but his communication on the painting project was poor. The project consisted of painting my condo which included living and dining room, one bedroom and kitchen. I asked and he agreeded to remove the carpeting and subcontract out new hardwood floor installation. He estimated the project would take 4 days. I work out of town and thought this would be an easy job for Snow Leopard. On returning a week later, I discovered the job had not been completed. It was at this time I learned how a poor communicator Ali is. No word ever during my absence as to why the project was taking so long. I contacted Ali and found out that after removing the carpet in the living room that the floor wasn’t level and he needed to relevel the floor by adding a new concrete base in one area. Okay...understandable but no communication of the problem and possible added cost. What I also discovered in my return home for the evening was that nothing had been covered over and all furnishings were covered in dust from the flooring contractors work.
I again went out of town for work and was assured the project would be completed when I returned 9 days later. Unfortunately it was not. Some sections of the floor had to be replaced do to damage from the contractors. The bathroom which was not to be painted was in turn painted and done poorly. The painter over painted onto fixtures and the vanity. The painter even painted over a picture hook rather than pulling it out. Yikes.
I contacted Ali and he dropped by and we went over the problems and some of workmanship. Some excuses were mentioned but in the end, Ali is the owner and ultimately needs to accept responsibility.
Once again I left Calgary for work and was assured all would be completed, my bathroom was to be repainted to its original colour. Upon returning I was happy to see most of the problems had been looked after but the bathroom still had problems. Over painting on the ceiling and fixtures now with the original colour. I sent texts and photos to Ali showing the problems. I even put stickys on the areas that need touching up. I go away again for several weeks, return and nothing has been done. No communication from Ali as to why the problems could not be fixed during my absence.
I contacted Ali and he came by but by this time I had enough of dealing with him and Snow Leopard Painters. Decided to end the work and complete the touch ups myself. A 4 day shop turned into two months of frustration.
Ali is a good guy but may have taken on too much of a workload and forgot to complete projects to a customers satisfaction. Snow Leopard painters DO NOT tape and I am not sure if this is their standard practice or just in my case. Ali’s communication skills are poor to keep a client notified of problems, progress and concerns. This was my experience.
