Joseph's Coat Painting was hired to paint the exterior, interior and Epoxy coat with Flake and high gloss clear coat a 2 car plus work area garage for a 2300 SF home in a prestigious Peoria neighborhood, the home has a high end solid wood front door with lacquer finish now over sprayed with latex paint on the jams and wood door, other door jams not painted, weather stripping easily removed was not and over sprayed (Brian asked was it like that before? Really with the new color we asked?), many door edges to be painted were not and only over sprayed. Window shutters stated to be removed and painted where left in place and sprayed in one position, many areas found to still have the original white paint; even the folding hinge sections. Joseph's Coat Painting even painted an air handler return vent while the AC units ran, spraying so much latex in them that the entire AC return vent to our main AC handler filter got pulled into the return handler vent and the channel leading to our AC return handler is now covered in latex paint, we will at our expense have it inspected, Brian unashamed when informed!
Brian Brown the main contact when dealing with Josephs Coat Painting, and as another review stated, does seem to play the runaround game quite well. The first pass at doing the job was spotty, rushed, and ill prepared, and Brian would state the crew was going to resolve issues and the first attempt they did better, missed much and then asked for payment. At Brian’s request we blue taped many areas and advised him in writing of issues and he texted us that his crew was to show up on numerous occasions (a Week or so has passed now), and they never did show up. Much of the general prep was skipped like properly taping light switches, or fixing cracks in concrete or holes in walls, and negligence like spraying latex paint directly into the air handlers, on the tile and in the dining room the wall has two different shades like over watered down paint.
Doors in the home were painted in place, not been cleaned or removed, primed or prepared many have paint separation (Orange peel and paint drips ;later just scratched off but evident), door hardware was not removed and taped in place leaving original white paint rings and over spray on expensive high end handles. Closet, and bathroom door hardware was sprayed in place completely covering chrome. The exterior patio had damage where the seams met on some of the ceiling drywall and was repaired by Joseph's Coat Painting and the repair texture is not the same as the rest of the ceiling. Light switches are covered in overspray and even after many attempts to resolve these issues and a multitude of text messages to Brian and us spending hours blue taping the issues as requested by Brian went left even though Brian requested us to pay his final invoice we did demanding a small amount be withheld until he finished. Brian even went as far to recommend we file a complaint with the registrar of Contractors as he has a friend named David he likes to deal with, maybe the other google reviewers Investigator? Grow up, why hire a professional you need to hold their hand to do the job professionally.
The garage epoxy coating has cracks and was NOT sealed, the entire surface not cleaned or prepared Brian said it didn’t need it and Joseph's Coat Painting used residential off the shelf Rust-oleum kits recommended for a 2 car garage that had been previously sealed (We have a 2 car garage with golf cart area and work area, more like 3.5 car garage that Brian was well aware of never sealed or prepped). Joseph's Coat Painting used the same Latex paint used to for the drywall and ceiling to paint the concrete steps in the garage as well as concrete stem walls surrounding the garage. None of the huge cracks in between the concrete breaks, or even attempt to repair any other cracks on the step entering the garage before painting them with basic latex .
