Jul 30, 2013
My relationship with Pacific One Paint & Contracting began April 2013. I will start by saying that Pacific One Contractors was not my first nor least expensive estimate for my project. I was looking for a company to remove wall paper from a decent sized bathroom and also a wall paper border around my living-room / great-room combo. Then I needed my entryway, bathroom, hallway and living-room / great-room painted (including all casings and some doors). It was (to me) a pretty large job. Ron, the estimator, showed up a bit early for the estimate for which I was very grateful. It only went up from there. He listened to what I wanted, asked pertinent questions, answered all of my questions and was knowledgeable, pleasant and professional. He explained what he was looking for as he checked out the areas that I needed work on (i.e. how easy was it to take the wall paper off, was the casings oil based or water based paint and why that would matter, etc.) I was very much impressed. He gave me a price and I hired him on the spot. Ron did the work himself. All by himself. He asked if I would be okay with him doing the work alone and I said fine. I was skeptical that the work could be completed to my satisfaction in the 3 day time limit by just one person but I was willing to give it a shot. What I didn't realize was that Ron was a machine and worked hard! I mean he had a stellar work ethic. Always pleasant; he seemed to enjoy his work (even if the wall paper removal proved to be a bit difficult in a couple of places). I was so pleased each evening with the progress and it was completed beautifully by 3:00 PM on the 3rd day (as promised). I cannot recommend this company enough. I will definitely be utilizing the services of Pacific One Contractors again. As for the other estimate which was cheaper and why I didn't hire them: they just looked at my house and made me an offer. They checked nothing. So I felt they may come up with some extra costs along the way because they didn't anticipate an issue. They were also 1/2 late getting to the estimate appointment with no good explanation for it. So, no thank you! I then contacted them again this month (July 2013). I needed help again. This time my bathtub faucet in my bathroom was leaking. It had been leaking for quite a while but started to get worse. I just hate not knowing any reliable plumbers and wading into the great unknown of qualified plumbers (but who can I trust?) Pacific One Contractors of course. Bruce Vaughn, the owner, wrote me a lovely follow up email after my interior paint job was finished and he did say I could contact his company if I had ANY OTHER issues with my home that needed to be taken care of. So I decided to take him up on the offer. It was a Sunday so I went to the company web site and filled out the "Contact Us" section. A couple of hours later I got an email from Bruce saying he would call me the next day. Which, of course, he did. He also came over to my house later in the evening with one of his plumbers to check out my issue. The plumber, Mac, asked a couple of questions and said he could take care of the leak on Wednesday. He showed up on time, showed me what the exact problem was (once he took it apart), went to the store to buy the part, and installed the new part. One hour from start to finish! Mac, like Ron before him, was pleasant and professional (and very tidy). I appreciated that he showed me exactly what was wrong with the old (and very worn out) part. This is a solid and reliable company. AND Bruce certainly knows how to hire good, professional and reliable people.
