Do your homework and shop around before choosing this company.
I had high hopes when I met Dustin Martin the day he came to do the quote. He was friendly and professional. And then the work was supposed to begin.
This company was contracted to pressure wash the siding on my home and scrape and repaint the frames/trim on all my windows. I still believe I was overcharged, but I don’t mind paying for quality service. There was nothing quality about the service I received.
I signed the contract before 8am April 3 and was told the pressure cleaning would begin between 8 and 10 the next morning. An email a few minutes later stated the pressure cleaning would begin around lunch time.
When I hadn’t seen anyone by 1pm April 4, I sent an email asking if there was an update. Dustin replied after 2 stating, “Sorry, he’s having car problems. Can we do the house washing tomorrow so he can figure out his car problems today?” I had no choice but to wait and stated as much. Dustin said he thought the employee was already at my home working until he received my email.
Someone showed up for a few hours April 5 to clean the house. In response to my email, Dustin replied that painting would be done Thursday and Friday, weather permitting.
No one showed up April 6. No one called or emailed to inform me of a change in schedule. I emailed Dustin after 4pm Friday and received no response. It may have rained other places, but it did not rain at my house until about 5pm or later.
After not having received a response from Dustin by 6:30pm Saturday, April 7, I emailed him and told him to cancel the job. Dustin replied two hours later and we continued an email exchange where I was told painting is not done within 24 hours of rain or temperatures below 40 degrees and said he wished I’d give the company a chance to complete the job. The weather argument doesn’t hold water since the temperatures rose and fell all that week and no mention of this caveat was ever made. He claimed email issues as the reason he didn’t communicate with me after my email the previous day. There was no explanation as to why I wasn’t called.
Against my better judgment, after Dustin failed to get back with me “first thing Monday morning” regarding my refund, I decided to let them finish the job.
Huge mistake.
After another no show due to car issues without anyone notifying me, a conversation with Dustin late yesterday afternoon and the job was finally completed today. Remember, though, his claim is that painting is not done within 24 hours of rain...tomorrow’s rainy forecast has been well-documented.
Dustin and his wife suggested the situation was my fault because I canceled and then rescheduled. I reminded him that all he or his wife had to do was tell me the schedule was full and I would’ve moved on to another company. That didn’t happen.
The gentleman who ultimately did the painting was fine. He came, he painted, he left.
Dustin may be a perfect gentleman and great realtor. I will never know because my experience with him has left more than a bad taste in my mouth and dent in my wallet, it assured left me with regrets. After finding this company, I initially passed on the information to someone else, but had to rescind the recommendation when things started to go downhill.
When you take a customer’s money and enter into a contract to perform a service, the contract should be honored without excuse. If you can’t complete the job, be honest about it. There was no circumstance that could not have been better handled with communication. I should not have been the one trying to track this company down, the reverse should’ve been true.
I suggest you shop around before settling for this company.
