I was initially impressed with the professionalism demonstrated by Caputo Painting during our initial meeting/quote. During the meeting, Julia was very friendly and also assisted me in making final decisions when it came to paint colors. Unfortunately, that was the only time this company impressed me.
The painter that they contracted to do my house was ALWAYS late, left early, and STUNK like cigarettes (it would literally smell like someone had just smoked inside my house whenever he was working). There was no set schedule for him, so he would inform me at the last minute when he wanted to paint…this got to be very inconvenient after several days.
I was quoted 3 coats of paint on an accent wall, and two coats other on all other walls. The painter determined that the third coat of paint was not needed, so he stopped at two. Even after I pointed out that the fresh paint had started bubbling up around a window (he applied both coats within 30 minutes of each other) and multiple areas where the previous wall color was visible through brush strokes, he touched up the areas I pointed out. He never put a third coat of paint on the wall. I still become aggravated today when I look at my accent wall, as there are multiple areas where the old wall color is peeking through brush strokes. A month after the job was completed, we discovered that the painter painted the pull cords of our blinds to the wall…now they are covered in paint and no longer function appropriately, not to mention the unpainted strip left behind after we freed the cord from the wall (nice, huh?). I also had a half bath painted and was quoted 2 coats of paint, however only 1 was applied to the wall. There are also several areas throughout our hall area where our old wall color is visible beneath brush marks. Our quote was never adjusted to reflect the fact that there was obviously less labor on the painters part.
The icing on the cake was delivered by Julia when she called to request payment. I was pregnant at the time and had due to complications that had arisen, had been taken to the hospital to deliver my daughter two months early. The painter had just completed the job the day before I was taken to the hospital…we knew we were dissatisfied with the work, but there were much more important things happening in our lives and we were unable/unwilling to worry about the mediocre painting that had been done in our house. The day we received the devastating news that our baby would need to be delivered prematurely, Julia called and requested that we pay her for the job and informed us she would be coming to our home for a check. My husband explained our situation and told her that he was at the hospital with me and offered to write her a check and mail it to her asap. She told him that he could not mail payment and that she needed to be paid that day. She told my husband that she didn't want her painter requesting his money that she hadn't received yet. My husband actually had to LEAVE me at that hospital to write a check for Caputo Painting, which he left in our mailbox for her to pick up later that day.
Disgusted doesn't even begin to cover how I feel about my experience with Caputo Painting.
