Beautiful Results - Trust the Process

I was given Spectrum Painting as a referral from someone I trust. I read the reviews and admit, I was worried. Here is what I found in full and honest detail. Wayne did promise the world. He delivered almost all of what he said he would (minus installing new light fixtures) - now, I do not blame a non-electrician for being concerned about working with electricity. The estimate was generic. We were getting our entire house inside and outside painted. So the estimate read basically repair or replace rotted wood. Paint all interior and exterior. We got great value and great results. The crew knew what to do and how to do it. They even repaired items I did not even think to ask about. Their prepainting prep was very thorough. They cleaned up every day and at job's end. They finished in less time than expected. We are very happy with the results and would use them again.

So hurt and disappointed. Wayne has painted for us twice in the past but most recently, we moved to a new house and spent $15,000 with him to repaint the interior of nearly every room of the house. They did the painting and we paid him out with the understanding they would come back and do the touch up work. That was three months ago. So we still have tape on the walls in several rooms awaiting the touch up work, and despite several calls and texts, Wayne has ghosted us. The net is they do quality work but don’t pay them out until ALL the work is complete

So a few years ago Wayne hired me and my partner to do his jobs for him, we completely remove all of the siding from a historical home in fort worth and then replaced it all with new caulking primed and painted. This was easily a 20,000 dollar job but my partner and I did it for him and the costumer for 3500$ because we were desperate, I had a new family with two young step daughters to feed. Low and behold when it comes time to pay he's a no show and when we tried to go to his businesses physical location it was actually a BBQ restaurant. Wanted to sue him but didn't have the 125$ to file so he won that one but if everyone can please do me a favor and not use them at all that would be great because I suspect ripping off his workers is just statis quo for this man.

My husband and I just moved to Keller from San Antonio. We purchased a beautiful home and were excited to start our life in a wonderful community. I am an interior designer and have done many remodels in my career. In times, there are opportunities between providers of service and trades where the fit is not good. I want to be able to make good recommendations for my clients and others when we have a great trade in our home or on any of our client projects. In this case, Spectrum Painting was unprofessional, unreliable. On July 16, 2014, Wayne Schweizer quoted our project. For 115 square feet, we were quoted $1,865.00 to install 8 sheets of sheetrock, texture the areas needing new texture, and paint the walls, ceiling, and cabinets. I touched base with Wayne several times prior to the start of our project, after several days he finally responded that he had been ill and would not be able to start our project. We understand, as these things happen to all of us--not a problem. We agreed by text he would visit the job site on Friday August 8th to walk the project. At the project walk, Wayne felt like the price he bid was too low as there was additional work to the scope. As this sometimes happens on a remodel, I was quite prepared and accepted what he was telling me. For us, its about the quality of work we are receiving and if he needed more money, that would not have been a problem. Remodels are difficult and even sometimes ---a pain in the neck. I didn't balk at what he was saying. Wayne agreed to have his crews to our home this morning at 8:30. Today, I arrive at 8:20 and by 10:00 am, Wayne had not arrived nor had he called or texted to communicate. After multiple phone calls from both my husband and I went unanswered and efforts to contact him by text also went unanswered, I elected to fire Spectrum painting and simply move on with another contractor. This should have been the end of all communication between this contractor and myself, but he has been harassing and threatening in his text communication. Our advice is to not give this person an opportunity to be in your home. He is dishonest and unreliable. From his other reviews, it looks like we dodged a bullet. Save yourself the time and aggravation and do not call this company.

Looking at the reviews above, I can totally empathize, because the same thing happened to me, with the owner Wayne. You need to read this entire review of Spectrum Painting (invoice says in Grapevine, but I have seen a few other addresses online, so I’m not sure if he changes his info to avoid the bad reviews). Totally unprofessional. Wayne promises the moon, and says how “everything will look great, just you wait, you’ll be so pleased”. Then when it comes down to it, he is a “know it all” and very difficult to communicate with. At the beginning of the job, I told him exactly what I expected and wanted done, we were painting the entire inside of my home and fixing a lot of texture. Through the job, I noticed the guys were not doing what I expected, they said Wayne didn’t tell them to do what I was asking. It wasn’t their fault, there was just gross miss-communication going on. Carlos and his crew did a good job, but ONLY because I was there every step of the way asking questions and giving instructions, all while Wayne would stop by the job, run in the house and throw out some unorganized instructions, then buzz off to another job. I felt sorry for Carlos that he had to deal with him. The guys had to come back and fix several issues after the final walk through. Wayne came in and said “my expectations were way too high” ummm, what? I felt like a joke was being played on me. I kept at him to fix the issues, so he finally agreed and told his guys to just get it done, all while acting like he was doing me a favor. So, he just picked up the last payment today. Originally asked me to leave it in the mailbox. I said I wanted invoice first, so I sent him a pic of my check and asked him to send me a pic of the invoices he planned on leaving in the mailbox. He refused, and said I shouldn’t treat him like a shyster. Really, well, he was acting like one! So…he had to walk to my front door to get the last payment because I wanted to personally accept the invoice… he said “you’re a control freak”, I responded with how unprofessional he was acting, and he responded with “I make more money than you do!”. Crazy right? What a bad experience. I thought I should share the specific details to save someone else from the drama, and a contractor that takes the fun out of remodeling!

Spectrum Painting is the worse painting company that you can hire. The owner lacks integrity and they do not stand behind their work. Once they "completed" their job there was a spot they blatantly missed in the master bathroom. The paint on any of the smooth surfaces (door jams, doors, and baseboards) began falling off. After no less than 10 phone calls with no return phone call and a email, the owner finally called back to state that "I was a crazy old lady and paint doesn't just fall off the walls". After more phone calls that were not returned, the owner finally came out to confirm that the paint was coming off. He blamed Sherman Williams for selling bad paint. The representative from Sherman Williams came out confirmed that the paint was fine that Spectrum Painting took a short cut and did not properly prep the surfaces. It took at another week to have Spectrum Painting come out to fix what they did not do the first time, and was told that I had to pay another $200 to have them do what they failed to do the first time. I would not recommend Spectrum Painting to anyone out there. This company does poor work, owner lacks integrity and they do not stand behind their work.
