First, let's take a look at the facts of a real experience with Starr painting from the point of view of a customer, me. I hired Starr Painting in February 2012 to re-finish my wrought iron fence in The Colony, Texas and they have painted my fence 3 separate times with 3 separate finishes. They most recently painted over the fence the week of June 18th, 2012. I paid Starr Painting $1600.00 to sand, and paint ~90 linear feet of 6 foot black wrought iron fence. The owner made at least 3 appointments with me that he did not show up to. The crew got paint on several windows, on my house, and on the brick of my house. They also got paint on my patio furniture and my landscaping rocks. They also covered up only half of my sidewalk and subsequently getting black over spray on the other half (they did attempt to power wash this off but you can still tell). The crew also thoughtlessly left their trash and painting supplies in my yard over the weekend and trash in my yard knowing that I have a dog. I also had to incur the expense of replacing multiple areas of grass in my yard because they dumped/cleaned their painting equipment in my yard, consequently killing my grass (is that even legal?). One of the painters also borrowed a drill bit from me, broke it and left without even telling me. My fiance and I have called the owner at least ~15 times with no answer and no callback. We have been able to get a hold of him ~1% of the time. The fence now has a high gloss finish on ~60% of the surface and the other 40% is a matte finish. The paint on the fence is patchy and in many places very bubbly and rough. I've given the owner of Starr painting multiple chances to make this right and he has not yet done so. If it had been done right the first, second, or even third time I would not be so disappointment. I've asked for my money back and have yet to see any of it. Now I will have to pay a professional to strip all the layers of paint off and paint it correctly. I will have to hire someone to remove the paint from my windows and house. Another frustrating reality is the many hours I've lost struggling to communicate and correct this situation with Starr Painting. Starr painting was the highest bidder by ~$800 but I hired them because after talking to the ownder I felt confident the quality would be outstanding and the experience would be solid. I was wrong. Approximately 5 months after the work began on this small fence, I am out $1600.00 and my fence does not look good at all. I am not a satisfied customer not only because the quality of work is very poor and the price is outrageous, but because the communication is horrible and the total lack of professionalism on the part of Starr painting is simply exhausting. If you are wanting to get a fence or anything else painted in the North Dallas area around Frisco or The Colony, I suggest doing significant research, getting several quotes, supervising everything from the choice of paint to the actual work being done. Most of all though, I suggest not hiring Starr Painting of Frisco Texas.
