I would not recommend Gilbert's Painting for anything! I had a nightmare of an experience with him. I own a small house in Garland and our management company had contracted with him to paint numerous houses in our subdivision, including mine.
Before he was to paint the houses, he was to look at each of them to see what exactly had to be done for each. He called me and said that there is wood rot and asked me if I wanted him to repair the wood rot before he painted and the cost would be $300. As I live in another state, I was not able to actually see the rot for myself and did not remember seeing any the last time I was at the house.
I asked him to email me photos of the wood rot and he said he would but he never did. Even after several request were made he refused to email me any photos. Since he would not show me proof of wood rot, I told him I did not want the supposed wood rot repaired, just to paint the house. He told me that if I will not pay $300 to have the wood rot repaired, he will not paint the house. This sounded like extortion to me and of course I was very angry that he was pulling this on me.
I contacted the management company that our HOA contacted to manage our subdivision. I told them what had transpired and they investigated the matter. They told me I would not have to have the supposedly wood rot repaired in order for Gilbert to paint the house. So this matter was settled but next came the issue with the garage door.
I had a new garage door installed about three years ago and wanted to make sure that they did not paint the garage door when they painted the house. I called Gilbert twice and he promised me that they would not paint the door. After the house painting had been done, I contacted my tenant and he informed me that in fact they had painted over the garage door. I called Gilbert but he denied we ever spoke about the garage door not being painted. However I had taped our call so I had proof that he had told me they would not paint the door.
I told him I wanted the paint removed but he refused to remove it.
Now I have an almost new metal garage door painted over with the same paint they used for wood. Am sure this paint will start peeling off within the year since they did not use paint that was designed for metal.
A few days ago I made a trip to Dallas for another reason and stopped by to check on the house and saw that Gilbert's Painting did a terrible job on the painting of my house. There is paint splattered all over the sidewalk as he or his workers were sloppy with the paint and did not bother to put some plastic down to catch the paint splatter. At least they could have wiped it up but they didn't even bother to do this so now it has dried and I will have to be power-washed to remove it...and there is quite a bit.
I have contacted our management company and requested them to never use Gilbert's painting again and would advise anyone looking to have their house painted to avoid this guy at all cost.
