I called this company to hook up a toilet, bathroom sink and my freezer ice maker. I had another plumber that has always done things as I asked, such as not cut out holes and instead plumb to fit the configuration of whatever it is being installed (ie: dishwasher, kitchen sink, toilet, bathroom sink etc.). When I called they offered to come out right away and on the phone seemed very accommodating. The person that came out was a Partner of the company, you will notice nowhere do they publish the plumber's names or the ownership situation (first flag imo). I asked and they agreed to send someone out sooner than later and when he arrived I explained that I did not want the wood cut out of the back of the bathroom sink and I wanted him to plumb the drain so it went out the opening, this meant he'd have to do a little extra work, and was charging by the hour and I agreed to it, in the end he argued he could not do it and cut a hole in it. Next he installed the toilet with the water connection sticking out ridiculously, I said it was not acceptable and asked him to change it (more cost to me apparently aesthetics are not important to him). Lastly we got to the freezer water hookup, I told him it was specific and he had to use a shut off valve that would sit close to the wall and where it was open behind the freezer because the freezer had to be pushed in as tight as possible, there was NO other alternative and he left to go and get a shutoff valve and returned with one that is used on an outside hose spout - blue two inches round type of shut off valve, I said it would not work and he insisted there was no other way. He pushed the freezer back into place and was finished and assured me it would be okay. On that following weekend, there was water leaking and I was in trouble with it, so I called my friend who knew an apprentice plumber who worked in a housing development, we went to the local hardware store, bought a shark bite shutoff valve and fixed it, no charge to me. The job had taken the HW plumber quite some time and I had taken down the hours and informed the company that I was not paying for the original install because of the bad job. They asked why I didn't call them to come and fix it and I said because he insisted there wasn't another way. SO, they started harassing me about the amount I planned to deduct from the bill. I told them I would pay the other part of the bill, once they revised the new bill (I did not want to be setup to be hassled for the bad job). His secretary (which I found out is the plumbers ex-wife), eventually sent me the new invoice worded that the amount would be all that was due and she insisted that she come and pickup the cash the next day. The plumber was in the background of the call and both were yelling at me. I agreed to having the secretary come and pick up the money the next day at 10 a.m. and I made it clear that ONLY the secretary could come. When she showed up she was accompanied by this large man who was the plumber that did the job. I opened the inside door, saw that he was there and he started talking to me, I was frightened, did not open the outside door and said to them the he had to get off my property and I would give her the money along with having her sign for it. Both these people started to scream obscenities at me, swearing loudly that the wanted their ???*** money. This went on for over 15 minutes and I called a friend who showed up and came in the house (he was a large man), the two of them were sitting in their car and I asked him to take them the money. He insisted she sign for it and when she did he gave her the money and the Plumber started to threaten my friend. It was insane.
I had another worker at my place that day and he happened to tell me that he worked with the owner of Headwaters and he was a good guy. So I called him directly and told him the story about what happened. He didn't sound as though he believed me and did not apologize for the behaviour of his partner. I would not use them again.
