Aardvark was hired as a sub on a water repair remodel. This was the second time the unit had been repaired for water damage in 2 months so we were being extremely cautious about water and plumbing. Due to the heightened level of concern over water issues, the general contractor's representative preferred to use a plumber for the dishwasher install. Aardvark was asked to re-install the dishwasher after the new wood floors were completed. Again, the second install of new wood after multiple water issues so Aardvark knew this was a major issue for us. Larry Smith (Aardvark's owner and plumber) installed the dishwasher but neglected to connect the drain line. No testing was done to insure the install was complete and the unit was working as it should. When I used the dishwasher for the first time the next morning, I stayed to keep an eye out for any leaks. For the first two minutes, everything looked fine. Then water came out from under the dishwasher and I immediately shut it off. I put towels on the water, opened the lower panel and put towels under but it was too late. When the water started coming out of the open drain, it first flowed back to the wall and under the new wood floors. It took two minutes for that to fill before flowing out under the front panel. When I called Mr. Smith he told me "I'm not an appliance guy. I hook up the water and the drain and that's about it". At this moment, I didn't know that the drain line hadn't been connected. When Mr. Smith arrived, he looked under the dishwasher and pointed out the drain hole and said "That's weird, it looks like a plug is missing. Call the GE guys and they'll probably have one in their truck". About this time the water restoration team arrived and asked for the dishwasher to be removed from under the counter. That's when we all saw the unconnected drain line. There are only three things to connecting a dishwasher: the water line, the drain line and power. Mr Smith neglected to connect the drain but blamed the person who originally placed the dishwasher under the cabinet. Aardvark was a sub to Ferrill construction, the general contractor for this repair/remodel. The damage caused from Mr. Smith's negligence will run into the thousands when you include the cost for a water restoration company and replacing or sanding/restoring the wood. In addition, due to the location of the fans, dryers and dehumidifiers, the kitchen is unusable and will remain out of service for days. Mr. Smith has not apologized or accepted responsibility for his actions. I've documented this in Google Places to alert you to what happened in my experience with Aardvark.
