HORRIBLE experience. Had small master bathroom re-done in May. Expected time- 2 weeks. Actual time- 4 weeks to complete. One of the reasons I hired Brynden was his highly specific description of the job being done with nearly airtight barriers to protect from the dust. I mean he launched into that story for a good 20 minutes, which impressed me at how careful his workers must be and it was one of the main reasons I gave him the work. Every day on the job I had to literally remind them to even just put down throw cloths to protect the carpets. There were absolutely no dust barriers and there was dust all over my bedroom daily. His main worker showed up stinking of booze nearly every morning and one day showed up with a black eye from a bar fight the night before. Tiles were not placed with proper planning, leaving a 3/4 inch gap at the top of the shower that they wanted to just fill in with grout. I complained and was shut down and told all projects are like this, and that I’m being picky. They of course refused to re-do it so I suggested they put a trim around it to make it less ugly. The grout in the entire shower also immediately started cracking and Brynden would not respond to my texts or phone calls and refused to even take a look at it until it was all done. Sure enough, it looked horrible and unacceptable so they re-did the grout, macerating the tile as they went. Brynden tried to blame me for the guys mixing the grout wrong because I had asked for epoxy grout, which they didn’t even get. Turns out they mixed 2 different types of grout together and that’s why it cracked - not something I would even know you could do let alone suggest! The sink must not have been connected properly because there is a huge gurgling sound every time you run the faucet which Brynden responded to by placing some kind of vent valve underneath the sink - which also makes a ton of noise and I’m not even sure it’s up to code. The toilet also makes a loud high pitched noise every time you flush it, which Brynden (who is ironically a plumber) says is totally normal and cannot be fixed - funny I never had one problem with grout cracking or strange sounds from the plumbing ever in that bathroom before now. To top it off they broke the pull down steps to access the attic so that I can no longer access the attic now!! Brynden’s response was to belligerently challenge me as to why they would have even gone up to the attic. I had to explain to this “contractor” that his guys accessed the attic because they installed a vent fan (which is not truly vented to the outside - which can cause a mold problem in the attic which I cannot even access now because they broke the pull down ladder). I am a single parent, I don’t have a ton of resources and I certainly don’t know how to fix such things. 6 mo later I still can’t access my own attic. Brynden refused to take responsibility for it, though it was working fine before. I regret hiring these amateurs and I anticipate having to redo the entire bathroom again if I want it done right. It has been the only renovation that literally sickens me whenever I think about it. Do your research carefully folks. I have to re-live this mistake every time I use my master bath.
