We came for the Easter scavenger hunt. Being Spring, there was a lot of ice still and considerable mud from the thaw. While considering much of that is understandable due to the season, there seemed to be little to no trail maintenance. Many families with strollers were having trouble. And a little one in our party had numerous slips and falls. Mulch would have made a big improvement, for example. The activity was fairly well organized and made the visit more engaging for the kids. The animal visits set up in the lodge were a fantastic idea. Staff were helpful and fairly knowledgeable. We don't visit the zoo often because it's sad to see the condition of the animals and the zoo itself. Today was no exception. It was rundown and beyond its prime when we first visited in 2004 and it's been no better in the visits since. We will keep hoping to see a change in business model or administration so we can bring our family more often. Good luck.

I know its a small ZOO but remember this is a NOT FOR PROFIT Zoo, the workers do a great job! Our City and province on the other hand should be increasing funding not cutting it as places like this are what we need! Its great for the whole family to learn and enjoy, these animals are not coming out of the wild they are retiring from other Zoos etc etc Great to Support places like this. **Suggestion** pavement for the walking trails & perhaps a small petting area (chickens or bunnies) but again that takes funding but hopefully

My partner and I were here in September and it was a great experience. Yes, it’s a small zoo, yes it’s a little run down, yes the enclosures are a bit small. But the staff and experience makes up for it. It’s a quaint like zoo that allows for things big zoos can’t. They also have a phenomenal graveyard trail, that as an animal lover I truly appreciated. I highly recommend a visit if you’re visiting St. John’s.

Nice little zoo. Cpl things to see. Trails are rough but passible. Not a highly funded zoo like in major cities

Fantastic little zoo. Easily. Covered in a hour or two. Decent range of animals for a zoo of this size.
