Wow. Must be the money. My son is getting married tomorrow. We are inside setting up the room in this beautiful country club. I was feeling a little overwhelmed so I went to the adjacent bar to have a cocktail. The bar maid looked me up and down and asked me what id like. I said a crown on the rocks. She poured it and asked my membership number. I said I'm not a member but I just put 20k into a one day rental. She said you can't drink here your not a member. I said my apologies I didn't know but another bartender intervened and said it's ok. Enjoy your evening and tomorrow. This lady constantly hovered around me whispering, your causing a problem you need to finish and leave.Meanwhile another bartender was offering me snacks a refill and other treats to make me feel welcome. Needless to say, I finished my drink in record time and dismissed myself. I'm not one to pull a race card but some people need to be less obvious when they work for the public. The public can be any color but the color they need to focus on is green. That's what seems to differentiate who is welcome and who is not. If the wedding day wasn't tomorrow, and the money non refundable as it's too late to cancel i would back out of this arrangement. Twenty thousand is not a lot of money to most of these "members" but it is to me. Sadly, she thinks she did her job, reality is I have 4 more children getting married over the next 5 years and she cost this country club over $100,000. That being 80k in rental and 20k in potential bar and food choices. Sad but I guess prejudice is more important than profit. Too bad there is not less than 1 star I can give. To the bartenders who made me feel comfortable, thank you for salvaging humanity and the evening for me. To the woman who was distraught over a mistake, get over yourself and thank you for a strong pour.
