First, I should begin by saying that I have been going to Fountain Hills for the past several years. I used to play at least twice a week here two seasons ago. Something wrong (very wrong) has happened in the past two years. Until the past two years ago, I never had any problems with the staff. In fact, in all of my years of golfing, Fountain Hills is the ONLY (repeat: ONLY) course that I have encountered rude, ignorant staff members. Even worse, the course is increasingly crowded. The staff just jam packs everyone on there and then tries to rush people (rushing people is very recent phenomenon). It has been a decline in service, friendliness, and even professionalism that is why I no longer play here. My most recent awful experience there finalized my decision. Specifically, while about to tee off, the ranger was very disrespectful to a golfer in front of us, telling him, "perhaps if you walked the course you would lose a few pounds." I do not recall the ranger's name, but he was a very old man. Joke or not that is rude (and not funny). After that, I felt the rangers were being less than helpful by watching everyone like hawks and even --and this never has has happened me from my years of golf-- asked my group to hurry up or "play best ball." Astonishing! The staff over-crowds the course, and then has the gall to tell everyone to "hurry up - or play best ball" AFTER you pay your money. Well, we would do our law enforcement charity events there on occasion, and I would invite friends and family for nine holes at Fountain Hills in the past. I assure you that I will be selecting other (better) golf courses. Folks, plenty of better courses in the area with friendlier staff, better greens, and a less crowded environment.
