Very good experience and really good greens, particularly for a public course. Also, fairways are very well groomed. I've played at most every country club in greater Pgh area and while 3 Lakes isn't up there with the big four or five, it's the most challenging public course I've played-challenging because of relatively fast greens(not as fast as they used to be but lightning compared to other public courses) and hills. I had my son out who has just started to learn the game and we had a great time. The people there were professional, helpful and friendly, from the pro-shop to the restaurant they have on site. Getting a tee time online was also really convenient. They make it easy just going to their website. I selected "special" and we got a discounted rate. The person in the pro-shop pointed out that my son was a Jr and we paid even less-he didn't have to do that. It was $30 for me and $22 for my son. While that's not the cheapest, considering the quality and challenge of the course, how close it is to Pittsburgh, it is a very good value.

We got a deal for $20. Greens are nice, fairways are ok, rough is ok, but some holes are weird, especially #5. Keep the ball in the fairway on the front side and most holes on the back or you'll shoot some high numbers. For $20-$25 it's a nice course to ride 18 holes, but $40 is way too much for an average public course.

First time in awhile, last time forever. 4 years ago I played this course regularly. It's close to my house and was in good shape. I played today for the first time in 2 years and won't be back. Greens were B+ which is only reason I didn't rate 1 star. Fairways are beat, black tee boxes are a joke. What the hell did they do to hole 5. Dumbest hole in golf and then I realized why they did it. To put in a maximum 4 stall driving range that's about 6 bowling lanes wide. Amateurs hit slices and sure enough the 10th hole was littered with range balls everywhere. It's a joke. Don't play here, because the worst is they think they can charge 40 bucks for a 1 o'clock tee time. If it was say 25 i wouldn't have cared soo much. Either fix the course or admit your failure and drop the price.

Nice staff, course in good shape. They need a ranger to make sure the pace of play doesn't get held up by foursomes who won't let faster players go through.

I played this course when it was still Alcoma Country Club. I can't imagine how the people who loved this course would feel today. A recent round found the greens in poor shape - so patchy that a good hole location could not be found on some of the greens. The greens used to be the jewel of this course - slick and beautiful, but no more. Fairways were also patchy -- the country club is becoming a distant memory despite the golf shoes on top of the lockers. I was on the beach at number 17, and the trap looked like a herd of deer had been followed by a herd of golfers. Much worse shape than the previous times I have played this course -- 2 or 3 times per year in the last five years.
