The course itself is beautiful. Fast greens, but the sand traps are all washed away or filled with water. No signs to tell you how to get around. No tee markers. Booked 18 holes on Father's Day, when I arrived to pay, was told to "just pay for 9 holes now and then pay $12 more to play again after 9 holes. When we came back around and went to pay for a replay, were told they were too booked, and needed carts for a party, which was not for 2 more hours. Was told "sorry, but I can't let you go back out"??? Awesome customer service ;-( I am sorry you only have 9 holes, but you can't overbook and jam people on top of each other, only to take 2.5 hours to play 9 holes. I've played before here where we were first off, played in 1.5 hours, only to come around and have the course jammed with multiple groups waiting and then it takes 2.5 hours to play again. NO RANGERS in site, slow ladies standing around gabbing with open holes in front of them, but would not let anyone play through. If you want to be a big boy, grown up course, you need to get some customer service and employees who actually care and not complain about their working conditions. I heard an employee each time I was there complain about the trailer they are in and how slow the construction progress is. As a customer, I don't want to hear anything like that. I would like to be told where the first hole is, SINCE YOU HAVE NO SIGNS!!! Arnold Palmer would be shaking his head if he were still alive and saw how you all run a golf course. It's a shame.

Can't rate the club working on a house. Very nice community.

I have played in a league here for 3 years. While I enjoy playing here and the individual holes are nice, there are some major aspects of the course holding it back from a 4 or 5 star. Pros: Very good greens - some of the best public greens in the Murrysville area. Totteridge is probably the next step up. Arnold Palmer Designed course* Nice individual hole design BYOB Practice green is in great shape. Not very busy, although slow play issues do arise (no ranger) Cons: Sand traps are horrid. They use the kind of cheap baseball sandlot sand that is rocks and dust, if there is even anything left at all after the rain ruts. We do not play the traps due to this. Par 33 (3 par 3's, 1 short par 5) 2 holes on each green (only 9 holes) - not a huge deal to me. Overpriced if you are not paying a league fee ($27 for 9 and a cart are you serious?!) . Most other courses in this area are maintained much better and are still cheaper. Mostly ridiculously slow or borderline non functional carts (won't move forward for about 30sec when you hit the gas) The owner/groundskeeper is very rude and aggressive - customer service in general there is not a highlight. If they are reading this, please keep in mind that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Continuity between holes is an issue. They finally put up poorly made, spray painted hole numbers, but sometimes you have a 2 min cart ride between holes... Not walkable. *Arnold Palmer Designed course: AP was one of the course architects and designed an 18 hole course. According to Blackthorne residents, AP's course design firm then asked them to remove any affiliation with their firm once the course fell into money issues and could not properly complete or maintain the course to their standards. Blackthorne still has the umbrella logo up both at the course and online, and pictures of Arnie shaking hands when the course construction began. I think it is distasteful to ignore the wishes of the King and his firm, especially now that he is gone. All in all, I hope that one day it reaches the level that it was promised to be.

Excellent condition and great design. Some shy away because its only 9 holes. But its in country club shape and you can play 18 from different tees/2nd pin locations. I continue to choose it over courses in the area. Currently adding a huge clubhouse and more holes.
