A old style French eatery with all the foods expected. Food menu has a little bit of everything and the beer/wine selection seemed diverse. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant also offers up a bread window, where they bake items (loads of bread, cookies, etc) and is saleable at the front counter (and perhaps outside, but I went in the winter). When they run out, the bread window closes. Chartier also had some of the best fries I've ever had. In house cut daily. Had the Montreal smoked meat sandwich. Where the fresh cut mustard was a touch strong for my taste, it was overall an excellent sandwich. I would eat here again.

My favorite restaurant in the Edmonton area, I have only been to Chartier for date nights. The family decided to take me out for brunch on my birthday and wow I was blown away. Brunch is just as great as dinner! At first we were concerned with taking my kids here because it is not a chain breakfast or brunch restaurant. But the staff was beyond incredible, my kids felt so at home here, the service was worth 5 star alone. Here is what my wife and I ordered, the Eggs Donovan and Scotch Eggs, the kids shared the massive house made cinnamon bun and yup the awesome amazing poutine. The best part of coming to Chartier is the menu is always changing. There is always something new to try! I would give Chartier 6 stars if Google would let me. Oh don't forgot to stop by the bread window, get there early before all the breads gone.

Ok like for real - Ridiculously amazing! They did such a great job! From the small plates, to the entrees, to filling in the cracks with dessert. These elevated French Canadian classics by Chartier will bring your palette on a culinary journey. We will be returning for more great food! I hear they do an amazing brunch. Can’t wait to try it!

The first time I went here they mixed up my order (gave me a BLT instead of a Montreal smoked meat sandwich). I love a good BLT (and theirs was the best I've ever had) and hate wasting food so I ate it anyways. They noticed their mistake when they gave me the bill and charged me the cheaper sandwich, as well as sending me home with the Montreal smoked meat sandwich for free. So that was basically the best night ever. I've since been back several times for lunch and always get the BLT. It's always amazing. I've never been for dinner (which is a separate menu) so I can't comment on that, except that everyone I've talked to has been impressed. Their beer list is smallish (but impressive given the size of the restaurant) and impeccable, usually featuring several Belgian, French, and Quebecois styles from Canadian breweries and a few non-French selections from local Edmonton breweries.

Been to this restaurant many times now and have had consistently great service and excellent food. Everything on the menu is prepared perfectly and the decor is welcoming and casual. Great place to spend a night dining with friends. Worth the drive no matter where you are in the city.
