So sad to say this place has gone VERY down hill! We have often popped into George’s whenever we are in Red Deer many times over the years and always enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere and good food. It is completely different now. My family and I were there on a Sunday early May/18. Literally, the only table in the restaurant. We arrived at 2pm and didn’t not get our entrees until after 3pm!! When we asked about where our food was (after waiting patiently for 45 min) the waitress said “I have told the cook to hurry. I think he screwed up one of the orders and had to start all over” We could hear the waitress and the cook yelling at each other multiple times. It was so unprofessional and awkward. AND! We paid full price for the meals. No apology, and no offer to at least discount our food for our poor experience. Never going back.

Ordered 3 steak specials with prawns and bacon wrapped scallops. All steaks were ordered medium. Two steaks arrived dry they were so well done and the third was rare to medium rare. The service was a nightmare. We had to ask for cutlery, ask for refills of water, ask for a pizza box (only edible meal we purchased) and our bill from the front counter because the server couldn’t be bothered to actually serve us. Then the “manager” didn’t apologize for food and service.... she blamed the new serving staff. The waitress said she had been returning food all night. Bathrooms were dirty. Worst experience I’ve had in Red Deer in 10 yrs!

Love love love George's. This place is a secret gem that deserves more attention. Always really top notch friendly staff and the food is great. A huuuuge selection on the menu and you can't go wrong with any of it. I just had the best lasagna of my life and my wife nearly always orders the chicken Slovaki and loves it for a date night. It's quiet, it's warm, it's classy, and it's a cozy low key date night kinda place 😊

Good comfort food from the good old days! No BS. Big portions, good steaks, greasy thick cheese topped lasagne, thick melted cheese on spaghetti and meatballs, veal cutlets with spaghetti circa 1980! Reminds me of going out as a little kid! Back when times were good!

We enjoy eating here from time-to-time. The food here has good value for money. Some days the service is slower than other days, and sometimes the kitchen will substitute something in for something you've ordered that they run out of. However despite that, the food has always been enjoyable and the staff are quite pleasant. The restaurant has a family feel to it and the decor hasn't seemed to change much over the past 20 years. It's mainly carpeted, and sound is more muffled than newer restaurants, which is perfect for those of my family who are hard of hearing and find it difficult to go out to eat in newer, uncarpeted establishments.
