Update: I went here for my birthday March 2018 and it was much improved over my first experience. We had a delightful meal. The steaks were done perfectly and everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was friendly and prompt. For brunch we also visited when the local family restaurant was overcrowded and understaffed and found the service here to be excellent as well as the food. The prices were very comparable. Overall I would be happy to do brunch here regularly.

Experience at Sawmill Restaurant Cold Lake: Reservations were made in early afternoon for 7 people. The name was provided, and they were informed 2 people were not able to make it. We were seated in a booth against the wall in the corner by kitchen. One guest stood waiting several minutes for a chair, which was placed at the end of the table. So a table of 6 left, it was cleaned within minutes and 6 others were seated comfortably. They did not offer the table. Someone took the drink order 15 mins later. We said it was extremely uncomfortable. Ignored. Food arrived 45 mins later. It wasn't great. We expressed our disappointment to the manager. 2 guests were scrunched up against the wall for 90 minutes, uncomfortable as hell. As it turns out, the manager had actually been the one taking our drink order so he was more than aware of problem. Did I mention that out of the 5 people, 3 were Elders? The waitress insisted reservation was made for 2 and had recorded 2 in the reservation book and actually argued about it. Never going there again- they are on my ban list!

Good food and great staff. Atmosphere was a bit confused due to disconnect between lighting/decor and the music. Several recessed ceiling lights were constantly brightening and dimming causing a distraction from the meal.
