This space is gorgeous, they somehow wrestled away a section of The Bay downtown and opened this spacious restaurant. Unfortunately it is a little underwhelming in a pretty strong Calgary food scene. We went for the Big Taste menu which was a great deal for a pricey place. Everything was fine. I had a brisket which was nice and flavorful but felt like it needed some extra cooking time for tenderness, I have had epic chunks of meat elsewhere. My wife had the squid, it came out not quite hot enough, but after a quick reheat it was pretty good. I didn't really care for the flavor profile on it but could appreciate the boldness of the dish. Dessert was amazing, sticky toffee pudding was on point and convinced us to try and make our own at home. Overall this place isn't going to blow you away, but the atmosphere is great and you will still have an enjoyable meal.

I don't write reviews as I am a server myself however after eating at the Guild I didn't feel I had a choice. As harsh as this is the food was disgusting and the service appalling. After the bottle of wine was ordered it took a good 10 minutes for it to arrive. The steak was tough, and the lamb burger was inedible. It was mentioned to the "manager" that the burger wasn't good he did nothing except to say that "he would let the kitchen know because they try to do their best". Interesting concept trying to do their best on somebody else's money! The hostess was probably the most helpful of everyone given the server was essentially non-existent and the place was empty. Please save your money and re-direct it to the Nash or Suzette. A tangible piece of evidence for an apology from the Guild would be a full refund. Furthermore I don't think my boyfriend and I have tipped 15% since we were about 12 years of age.

Very nice place with great food. However, do not expect fast service. Things come out at a very "leisurely" pace. Good place to go if you want to hang out for a while and enjoy your friends' company. You'll have a lot of time for that

I am extremely disappointed with the experience my boyfriend and I had at The Guild. We booked a Valentine's Day reservation here two weeks in advance. Upon arrival, we were escorted to a table with four seats, which they split into two tables extremely close together. Another couple was seated at the table which used to be attached to ours, complained, and were immediately moved. After making a reservation so far in advance, this callous display was unacceptable. We confronted the staff, who moved us to another table. We were optimistic about things changing, but our experience continued to be an utter disappointment. After being reseated, we sat for an extremely long time without any service. Our experience to follow was equally as disappointing, with poor quality service and over-priced, average quality food. I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant.

Not impressed with this place at all, poor service and management. When we first arrived, the hostess was talking to us trying to find our table reservation in the computer. When out of nowhere the manager showed up and rudely interrupted her asking her a question. He didn’t seem to be happy with her answer. Then one of the employees showed up late and he called her out on it in front of us. Wow how unprofessional! It took forever to get our drink order and our server seemed like it was his first day on the job (He was very nice though). Food was ok, definitely had better. One good thing is their drinks are very good! There are WAY more good downtown restaurants to visit than this place.
