Ate here for lunch today with my mother in law, was pretty disappointed. I was very anxious to try The Coconut Room as it seemed to have the type of atmosphere I enjoy, and had many promising reviews. Upon entering I was not disappointed, the decor and general feel of the place was perfect. After we sat we were greeted fairly promptly, but the server then mumbled the specials while looking completely away from us, the only word we picked out was turkey. I had to ask her to repeat herself when she came back to take our order. As we had a slight time crunch (75 minutes) we chose dishes we assumed would take the least amount of time, opting for a simple grilled cheese for myself and a soup and scone for my mother in law. It took almost 50 minutes for the food to arrive, and when it did it was very lack lustre. I could tell the bread was fresh and my mother in law enjoyed the scone but her soup was way too spicy and my sandwich was very little cheese between two very thick sliced bread. We then had to approach the counter to ask for our bill as we had to leave and no one had come back to check on us. When my mother in law mentioned her soup being too spicy she was met with a very brazen “oh, well I liked it” from our server. Who then just rang us in and sent us on our way. I may come back and try a scone and some coffee, but wouldn’t recommend for lunch.

Excellent service, food and atmosphere. One of the best places downtown.

Cool place. Interesting dishes. Good service. Been there only once. Wish there were a bit more selections on menu, but it was good. My coworker thought his dish was too spicy.
