Just had the lunch buffet. Service was great. The waitress was fun, a super busy lady running around serving the entire restaurant. The cashier lady was never at the till, and twice I saw people wait far too long for her to return. The food was OK. What was left of the buffet was crispy leftovers that should have been thrown out. A customer had to harrange the waitress to have them bring out actual food, which is sad. MAYBE half of the dishes were actually out for customers to eat, and of those, half of those dishes were seriously old and inedible. I had this place recommended by a local, but would not recommend it to anyone. There is a chance that their menu items fare better. Perhaps they just try to rip people off for their lunch buffet. Unfortunately I'll never find out. The plate I'm posting is their edible food.

Fresh. Delicious. Variety. An unexpected surprise. Did the Driftwood management change over the years? I was here years ago and I can't remember being this impressed. I recall it seemed quite average, like many quick take-out restaurants. Took the folks here a few weeks ago after they recommended it again and was full and happy with the buffet. I asked if that was the same restaurant we visited years ago. Turns out it was. I was impressed! So last weekend, we're in the Comox Valley and I ask if the family wants to Driftwood again; of course yes. Again, the buffet is loaded with fresh prawns done 3-4 ways, noodles, rice, veggies, muscles, soup, sweet and sour, spicy squid, chicken wings, lean pork, deep fry, and another table just with desserts. There was always someone tending the tables, filling the dishes and a server making sure we had clean tables, fresh water, tea and chili sauce. It's kinda retro inside; probably the same deco since the 70's - but it works! The ocean is across the highway and the outdoor landscaping isn't bad but you come for the food. I think I'd give this 5 stars if the seating was a little less exposed and more comfortable, but after seeing the clientele and the casual attire, you realize we're all locals, we know each other and that degree of frill just isn't necessary. We're just here to eat some amazing Chinese food and walk (barely) out of her really happy. That's the bottom line. You walk out very happy. Great service, great food, reasonably priced. While we were there enjoying a fabulous Chinese buffet that every time a table was empty it was immediately felt up by new customers. The food is amazing. So much so we went twice this week as the first time was the first time ever. I highly recommend you trying the buffet

The chowmein is amazing! The food is not greasy like some buffet. You can eat lots and leave not feeling gross. Really helpful and friendly staff that were able to answer questions about some food allergies of one of the members of our group.

The service was ok, but the food was not great. The buffet had a nice variety of items, but many dishes were quite bland. They were not very quick to refill empty dishes even though the place was busy.
