The noodles and soup base were delicious. The Laksa was really good but spicy. The standard fish soup was flavorful, good if you like lighter soups. We also ordered the ox tongue. It was decent but you only get two pieces. I also really liked the lemon tea.

Food were delicious here. Service is way better than the cafe in Henderson Mall. Waiters and waitress are polite and friendly. I wonder why? They are under same group. The old waitress in the cafe should all lay off.

I ordered the Peanut Sauce + Chili Soup base with my noodles which I found was prepared nicely when compared to other Deer Garden restaurants. The others had way too much peanut (butter?). A great place to go to on a cold winter day and you want a nice bowl of noodle soup to warm up to. Quick service (received food within 5-10 minutes of ordering). Also found service to be very attentive and we felt that we were being looked after. They charge 50 cents for a container which is in line with the other Deer Garden restaurants (restaurant chain policy?).

Deer Garden is one of my go-to places for noodles since its first location in Richmond. I was very excited when they expanded. Deer Garden is great because you can choose your soup base, the type of noodles, toppings, and a drink, all for $11.25 (although quite the increase from when I first started going there). I was even more excited when they opened up a Coquitlam location because it is closer to home. The food there didn't disappoint; for that I give 5 stars. However, I deducted two stars from this review because the server set down a bowl of noodles that wasn't ours, and then walked away while I attempted to explain that it wasn't ours. (We already had a bowl each.) After a few minutes, we finally caught the attention of another server to tell her of the error. She took the bowl, confirmed which table it was for, and gave it directly to them. Even though the noodles were untouched on our table, the servers don't know that. They didn't even ask. Trying not to think what if my noodles had landed on someone else's table, and those people have slurped it before realizing it's not theirs, and then it gets served to me? Ick. D:

Service is bad. It took almost an hour to serve our food. Food is bland. Not enough parking space. There are better chinese restaurants in the area. By the way if you were not able to finish your food/soup and decided to bring it home, they will charge you for container/plastic bowl (price is depending on the size), you should change this policy because it's not customer friendly and it's not standard practice in restaurantd. Not conducive for a person with disability.
