My Trip Just Seafood
Generally, I am not a seafood lover. I prefer pizza, chicken, subs, pretty much anything else. But when I finally decided to go and try Just Seafood with my friends, I discovered that it was almost the best fish I had ever had! Now I go there on most Fridays.
A warning in advance; if you enjoy going to hoity-toity restaurants with golden toilet seats, complimentary caviar, and the little olive boles beside the toilets, just seafood is not the place for you. It is a place where you can get delicious seafood within a timely fashion.
When you enter Just Seafood, you are greeted with a seaside atmosphere, and a very nice diner owner, who also happens to be the chef. Everything from ropes on the walls to little statues of fishermen. You have the option to eat inside on little park bench type seats, or you can eat outside and enjoy the wonderful view of the parking lot which, as far as parking lots go, is exquisite.
The choice of fish was very broad. You could have deep fried haddock, salmon, scallops, and, if the fancy people want to feel at home with expensive foods, you can have halibut. For drinks, there was cans of soda, and water. Sorry guys, no vintage wines
During my visit to Just Seafood, I ordered the two piece deep fried haddock with fries and MUG Root Beer. How many calories were in this meal? How would I know? What am I, a nutrition guide?
I have to say, the prices were very reasonable. Unlike most seafood restaurants, this place judges how much you pay by weighing the fish. My meal came to about $8.99, which is a pretty good price for two pieces of fish, a drink, and fries.
The waiting time for my meal was very short. I waited for about 6 minutes. The food was not served on a elegant diamond plate with solid gold forks with little rubies on the ends of them. What a disappointment. Anyway, the food was served in a light brown takeout container with a plastic fork. The fries were not fat, nor skinny, but right in the middle. Just by looking at the crispy deep fried haddock, you could tell it was freshly made in the back of the diner.
First, I took a bite out of the fish. The deep fried batter was very crispy and tasted delightful. The haddock itself was not to dry, but also, not to soggy. It was perfect. Usually when I eat any kind of fish, it is dry and difficult to eat. But not here. It had just the right amount of salt to make it quite flavourful. My Root Beer tasted like, well, Root Beer. At the table, there was salt, pepper, vinegar and ketchup.
The diner is located on 83 Hampton Rd, Rothesay, New Brunswick, Canada. If you absolutely hate adolescents, you may not want to visit Just Seafood seeing as it is located next to a high school and a junior high school. If you are determined to eat here no matter what, I suggest you visit anytime before 12:25 or after 1:30, because that is when they eat their lunch, and a lot of times they go to Just Seafood.
Just Seafood is a great place to eat if you want quality fish and chips served to you in a very short amount of time. I would rate this diner 5/5. I suggest that you drop by some time.
