Food was simple fare but cooked perfectly. Very tasty. We had fish and sweet chips, chili and wings. Really enjoyed it as we shared. A nice large beer on tap, and a ceasar for momma and we were happy. Desert of creme brule and carrot cake. I'll be back!!

My family of four stopped by this restaurant to have dinner a couple of weeks ago. Upon entering the restaurant, the overall decor was ‘trendy’ with a lot of the trimmings using wood products to give a rustic down-home feel. The special of the evening was the all-you-can-eat poutine bar that allowed for customization of you own poutine with a number of toppings. While standing by the “please wait to be seated” sign, I felt ignored and waited...along with others who just entered for an inordinate amount of time. Instead of an organized pattern of efficiency, I encountered some folks chatting with leaving customers for long periods, limited wait staff working their legs off trying to meet the sitting customer’s needs, and an ever increasing line up of new patrons entering and waiting for seating as well. A disturbing observation while waiting was the substantial delay of newly cooked fries for the poutine bar to keep up with patrons using this selection. Once seated, a wonderful young waitress came to serve us and leave us with the menus to peruse. There seemed to be another trend contained within...the challenge in pricing foods appropriately to the local market. This restaurant is not a brand-name franchise, but chose to use the same pricing structure as those locations...with limited offerings for younger clients...and commanding substantial markups for additions (such as a protein) to various items (such as nachos). I went with a old standby of pulled pork, my wife went with meatless nachos (didn’t want to pay the up charge) one kid went with poutine entree (not the bar) and the other went with fries...he wasn’t really hungry. The waitress was quick to get drinks and returned in a reasonable time with food in hand. During our wait I observed interactions with the wait staff and the person who appeared to be in charge and there were definitely more orders handed out rather than pitching in to give a helping hand in the bustling restaurant. The food review: nachos were ok, but the price point was the same... if not more then what is paid at the Irving Big Stop...and lacked protein. The pulled pork was reasonably good, but came with this ‘trendy’ little bucket with a handful of fries...really??? Fries are cheap and a way to fill up a plate to make it appear you’re getting a lot of food for your dollar. All-in-all, this is a poor replacement for the former Holly’s restaurant that used to occupy this location that provided a delicious selection of entrees and amazing desserts. I feel too much show and display is being used to make up for over-priced, small-serving sized pub-fare. I hope that management can use this as constructive feedback to improve the menu...either through pricing, or value...and pay attention to things that matter. Get rid of the French fry buckets!
