This was my first time going to the Chimney, now named Tommy's, but also my last.  I ordered the liver which on the menu said was the best liver in town piled with onions. I ordered the full portion for $22.  If I'd ordered the half portion I would have left hungrier than I did.  The large portion was a very thin slice of liver about 5 inches long with maybe 6 or 7 slices of burnt onions.  I was also told by someone else at our table that the ribs she ordered were too tough to eat.

People rave about the food, but I don't get it. The food may have been good in its day, but not really anything special anymore. I am not sure if anyone under 50 even remembers this place, let alone frequent it. Save your caloric intake for somewhere cheaper or better.

Always a solid, "classic" meal choice, with a nice atmosphere. Things like steak, chicken, etc. with a side. The Sunday brunch is a favourite. Definitely worth putting into your rotation, especially if you want to avoid what comes with a chain.

Alright, so, this restaurant is better than the average chain, but not by much. The cocktails are very good, and easily the best feature of the restaurant. Also their Calamari may be the best in the city. The aesthetic is a jack of all trades, which makes sense given the location and market it's trying to attract. Three major complaints. 1. I ordered one of their signature burgers, the Made Man, and what I got was presented very well, but was a logistical disaster. The burger was at least 2-to-3 times the vertical width of my mouth. What proceeded, even after cutting the burger in two, was a sloppy disgusting mess. The burger tasted good, but I don't believe there is a single person on earth who could eat this without making a morass of it. I might just be some bougie idiot, but when a burger arrives that I know is trying VERY hard to be 'a good deal' I am unimpressed. The burgers I cook at home may not taste quite as good, but at least they fit in my mouth. The whole problem could be easily solved by making a burger with a smaller width to height ratio. As it stands I will never order a burger from this restaurant again. 2. My partner ordered the Buffalo Poutine and received a dish with a massive pile of Jalapenos integrated into the plate. Jalapenos were not listed as an ingredient in the dish and my partner is not spice tolerant. Jalapenos should have been listed as an ingredient.. 3. Pricing is outrageous for the quality of food. $20 for Chana Masala, a dish which is literally chickpeas, spices and a little bit of ghee is ridiculous. The Hotel Sask would have been cheaper for what we had.
