I don't know how this place has so many good reviews. I was in there yesterday and here is my opinion of the whole experience. Atmosphere - cramped, the place is big enough you could open it up by taking out a few walls. Staff- the two people that work there were friendly, but noticably over worked, needs more staff especially for a Saturday. Food- was mediocre diner style food, nothing special. My kids got burgers that were just hard dried out bricks. My wife's chicken was so dry it looked like splintering wood. I was lucky and got breakfast which is hard to mess up but the wrong food was brought to me, which goes with the over worked staff. Price- was ridiculously high for the type of food. I could have gone to Olive Garden for less money. The only reason it even got 2 stars was because the food was edible.

I come here once a week on Saturdays and the food is great. Very quite restaurant and clean the customer serviceis a 5 always try and stop to eat. Everything on the menu is good thumbs up. It's a nice atmosphere to sit and relax the owners are very nice always asking how your food is. Thomas Cedar Rapids

One of my favorite restaurants!!! I love all of their food. I have had the steak, amazing; the chicken fingers, also very tasty, more of a crispy than crunchy texture; and salads, which were very fresh and crisp. Nice and attentive staff. Reasonable prices too.

Thanks for your dedication to your fine menu choices at reasonable rates. Jan and Bruce Ball have created Midtown South with an outstanding staff that make you feel like family. Marcella, Rodger and all the rest of the staff do a great job making your meals a pleasure. Seek this place out and bring your family and friends and enjoy.

This was the most expensive, mediocre meal I've ever experienced. My chicken sandwich was extremely dry, the hamburgers my kids ordered resembled hockey pucks, and while my husband's breakfast order was hard to ruin, the wrong order was brought out twice. The staff seemed very stressed and overworked with not enough help, and in general did not seem interested in anything other than getting us out of the restaurant as quickly as possible. For the price of a meal whose only upside was being basically edible, we could have gone to a much nicer, friendlier place with quality food and service. This was the biggest waste of seventy dollars, and we will certainly never come back again.
