If you want some comfort food in a cozy welcoming environment this is the place! The people are always nice and the portions large. It's so much better than the plastic chain diners! I have to get the monte cristo almost every time I come in.

First visit was positive. Went for lunch, the place was quiet, the service was very good and so was the food.

The highest quality now a day greasy spoon. Old time Alaskan feel. Good for a meal when you close the bars.

Great old Spenard diner especially after hours. Service is typically very good and I've never had a bad dish here. Their menu includes Hawaiian dishes in addition to the diner classics. Try their LOCO MOCO dishes (e.g., pork katsu) which includes sticky rice and gravy. Or order spam and eggs. Can't go wrong there. Apple pie ala mode is delicious too!! They don't offer free Wi-Fi and I often run out of data so I like to go places where I can use free Wi-Fi. Free Wi-Fi would be nice but it's not expected at this sort of placed really. I've gone there all different times of the day but also have gone early to work/write on my laptop after the bar crowd has left (after 5am). It can be nice and quiet then when there's no rush for you to eat and leave. Their coffee is very good too with free refills, always fresh, so if its not a busy time then I like to stay a little longer. If you like reading with your coffee, they do have a few TVs there turned onto a news channel (OEN or some neutral news outlet) and there's a few newspaper stands at the door with ADN, Anchorage Press, etc.

This place is an alright place to go with friends, if you're looking to hang out with some buds. My friends and I enjoy the atmosphere and comfort food this place provides. Definitely would recommend it.
