A great place for a late lunch or a quiet dinner, the Rookery is a must-do for Juneau. Typically I'm a burger-eater, and this place doesn't disappoint. The Butcher's Burger is a favorite with bacon, pickles, and onion complimenting a medium-rare patty and mild cheddar cheese. The meat seems hand packed and fresh with a loose inner consistency and crisp caramelized crust lending it to a complex and savory flavor. The tots on the side are nothing special, but are a good compliment to the star of the dish.

We had a delicious hamburger at The Rookery today. It's called the Butcher's Burger (meat ground fresh daily and home baked bread) and we selected the salad as our side. The lettuce is home grown! I also had a cup of their delicious Stumptown coffee. We definitely recommend this place!

Called to place an order for pick up... The lady who picked up sounded upset when I asked if they had started serving lunch yet, she put me on hold for about ten minutes and when I finally was helped, she laughed at my name, fine whatever. I went to pick up, they ladies behind the counter were not very polite, a customer in front of me asked if a dish was gluten free and received a half assed answer at first, but asked again, the waitress rolled her eyes and stormed back to kitchen. It was my turn and they didn’t even make eye contact when taking my money or name. One asked the other if the to go box on the counter was for me, and the response she received was “I don’t know why don’t you open it and check.” Why would they ask for a name on the phone but not put it on the box? I am disappointed in the service I received, have heard such positive things about the food and wait staff, I will have to disagree with the wait staff reviews

The Rookery cooks some really nice food mostly. Some of the food items I personally don't care for. The atmosphere is like a large cavern, lacking comfort, quite echoing. One orders and pays at the counter, take a number and a seat at an available table and wait for your food order to arrive. Their are dessert items available behind the glass counter.
