Possibly one of the best fried fish I've ever had. I ordered the halibut with a side of chowder and slaw. Every bit of it was well prepared and delicious. The halibut was not overcooked as it is common in lots of places. The batter is just right, a slight crunch but also melts in your mouth. The chowder is flavorful and actually has clams! I came during the winter so it was a bit chilly inside but I will definitely be back for more. UPDATED REVIEW 08/16/2017 In my oversight I forgot to update this review to match the update I placed on Yelp. I have been back several times since then and am sad to say I have to down rate from my initial review as this place lacked consistency. They microwaved my clam chowder in front of me to heat it up. I see them pull fish bits from the refrigerator wrapped in a ziploc bag. The bits in that bag just did not look appealing it was almost like they were giving me scrap meat. Yes, the fish batter is delicious but that alone does not negate all the other unsatisfactory aspects of this restaurant.

This is the real stuff. Some of the best fish on the island made by a family of local commercial fishermen. Get the Halibut & Chips and try the best Clam Chowder I ever ate (no kidding) . It's the kind of place that's open when it's open, otherwise they're out fishing and you just missed out big time. Absolutely not typical tourist garbage. Food that is loved by the locals who really know what's what. This is an old-school Alaska fishing-port treasure.

Might be good fish N chips but operationally pretty bad service. They kept customers waiting out in the rain and cold from 11am-11:30am when they should have opened 11am. They were out of certain dishes and the chowder wasn't even going to be ready till 12pm. Tables weren't even clean in the start of the day. BTW, there are only 4 tables so be ready to share or stand. Lousy customer experience. Don't think there's even a restroom here. While their sign says they don't serve breakfast because they're busy catching lunch, they're probably just getting out of bed before coming to the shop. The halibut and shrimp are tasty. The chowder was very watery compared to other places and disappointing.

The best fresh fish and chips. I can say the onion rings have a great taste while the clam chowder is the freshest in town. Everything is either made daily or he is out getting fresh food to serve. The city could help this guy get a bigger building. Best chowder-fresh daily. Onion rings-great batter.

I'm ruined for fish n chips anywhere else. The halibut melted like butter in my mouth. The coleslaw has dill which makes it a tasty spread on the fish. The tartar cream was creamy and fresh. The clam chowder was hearty and tasty. My recommendation is to make eating here an experience and not a pit stop. If you want something quick, keep walking. If you want something fresh and delicious, then place your order and wait on the bench for the best meal you can get in Ketchikan.
