Everyone is so nice. The food is delicious as well as the coffees. They truly cater to their customers, providing gluten free options and creating latte art - extras that aren't always a must. The atmosphere is welcoming and makes you want to stay and be cozy.

It must be made known that the students are made to work for room and board. They are never paid a dime. This is not only wrong, but illegal. Paisius who is their leader has been removed from the priesthood due to psychological, emotional, and physical abuse. He continues to be in power and continues to abuse the students. If you are still at the Academy, please come forward and make your statement known.

The staff are the best! Great homey place to enjoy some good food and great coffee! Don't forget to check out their thrift store upstairs!

Nice place for a quick lunch, artisan sandwiches are a bit pricey and the amount of seating is limited, but I was told that it is run by students from the local seminary and they of course are friendly and cheerful. The gift shop portion is quite unique, lots of icons, matryoshka (nested dolls), and local crafts. The dining room walls have recycled art, placemats and rugs made from used boat ropes (lines), and other nautical items. My sandwich was a good portion of turkey and cheese with a tasty mayo and my daughter-in-law had a veggie burger that’s she described as excellent. Parking is limited and it is best approached from the south but if you have the time it is a far better choice than the McDonald's across the street.

If you're visiting Kodiak, Monk's Rock is a must. Amazing food, friendly staff, organic ingredients, and wonderful coffee all in a super cool little venue. Can't wait to go back!
