Neal's started in 1944 and is still family run. The food and service is good. Down home cooking, home made pies ands rolls. Genuinely retro but well kept, neat and clean. Open til 7:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday (so come early) and 2 pm on Sunday. Closed Monday. Historic, quality casual dining experience.

Tried it once years ago. Had fried chicken that was bland. I don't remember what sides came with it, but I do remember the bland taste of the chicken. And it seems that most everything else they serve is bland as well. This is what attracts the "senior" customers. I hope I never get too old to enjoy well-seasoned food. My in-laws tried this place also, and there was a problem with the gravy. They said the owner/manager at the time told them that if they didn't like it they could "get on down the road". You know, with this kind of attitude and service, I don't see how there are so many good reviews posted here. And it's obvious that the owners don't read their reviews because they haven't responded to them. Word-of-mouth gets around, and when the negative type gets around enough, it's going to cost a company some business. I've seen plenty of negative reviews here regarding Neal's, although they're still outnumbered by positive ones. But time's not on their side.

Staff was friendly. I also met the owner who was really kind and nice. Food was mediocre. I had hamburger steak, eggs, has browns, and biscuits and gravy. My hamburger steak was cold and had little to no flavor I had to put quite a bit of salt and Tabasco for flavor. The eggs were fresh and the biscuits we're good. Really overpriced in my opinion. Might go back but definitely not a first choice.

Prices have gone up. Our order took 45 minutes to get. Waiter only came back to our table to check once. Couldn't hear my wife talk to me because of the noise of folks talking. Food was good but less served than past when we came. Cost almost 50.00 for 2 people. Pie good but high dollar. Noticed the crowd was 90 percent over 60 yrs old.

Sometimes you shouldn't go back to the places of your youth. While their breakfast portions are generous, the quality was only mediocre. A Springdale institution that hasn't maintained the family tradition of fine southern cooking.
