Obviously not what it used to be, sadly. Service with a real smile but super below par for dinner on our visit, what a shame! Visit the building for the history. Waiters (who are nice!) didn't know the dishes. Menus later bought back to the table not once but twice to disappoint and swap orders that sold out by 8.30pm. A visibly dirty spoon was given to me to use, and then my main simply arrived without half the ingredients listed on menu. I did contact the venue and was kindly, offered a re-attempt but this was a honeymoon visit from out of town. Visit with no expectations and daydream about the history in the walls...

I have read many negative reviews of Melvyn's in Palm Springs and we chose to come by and check it out anyway. In my opinion the reviews were nonsense. Our meal (there was four) was great! The cream of mushroom soup was delicious! The wilted spinach salad was to die for! The steak Diane was excellent and the French onion soup was the best my husband has ever had, and he gets it everywhere. Everything was spot on! Scallops were yummy and the veggies that came with - yummy! Shared the bananas foster and enjoyed it as much as the rest of the meal. Now enjoying music at the bar. Great evening 😀

The Chicken Piccata lunch was excellent. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the chicken breast was delicious and moist. It is obvious that the staff pays close attention to every detail. I will definitely be returning to Melvyn’s.

My favorite bar in PS for many decades! Old hollywood atmosphere, with such a rich history! I like the recent spruce-up by the new owners, which was done with great taste. I dare say that Mel would concur! Cheers!

First of all, according to their website, there is a dress code: “collared shirts and long pants in the main dining room.” We dressed accordingly and were seated in the patio where several men were in t shirts. We ordered appetizers and salads which were fine, not great. But after being seated at 7:00 PM and not being served our entrees by 8:30 PM, we decided to leave. We received apologies from the Maitre d, but nothing more. Our server said the chef was new. There are many choices in the desert, we will try something different next time.
