Back 40 Texas barbecue in Citrus Heights, Is a great place to make dinner a little easier my husband picks up a pound or 2 of ribs, fresh brisket fatty as well as lean brisket. Then brings it home and we either make sandwiches with it or use it as part of our dinner. It's so much easier than having to spend 16 hours mucking a piece of meat. We have also had the sides that are offered and they all seem to be quite tasty.

Visited here on a Sunday after church. Split a full rack of ribs with my best friend and the server was kind enough to split the side dishes too, generous portions for both of us. Ribs were pretty good, the sauce on them was tasty and I enjoyed the two sides we had of fried okra and garlic mashed potatoes. The price seemed a bit high, but the service was spot on so it made the pain a bit less. Overall they are a solid 3.5 out of 5 but I will bump them to a 4 because of the service.

I was looking for a good BBQ restaurant so I had lunch at the Back Forty Texas BBQ today. I ordered a combination plate. The corn bread and sweet potato fries were great but the pork ribs and the chicken were a big disappointment. Both meats were almost taste-free. There was not even a hint of smoke flavor. Although the service was good and the people are pleasant, I will not ever return to this establishment.

I have ordered the juicy sliced brisket (carry out) at the Roseville Back Forty for years, and it has been delicious. Recently they raised the price, but the brisket continued to be wonderful. I am wondering now if it is under new management... Last night I ordered 2 lbs of the brisket to take to a dinner party, and was so embarrassed to discover that it was tough, sinewy, and almost inedible when I unwrapped it in front of company. Plus other items were wrong in the order. FORTY PLUS DOLLARS worth of meat were terrible! I have been a faithful customer, but no more unless this improves! Rachael Wilson

This was my first time coming to Back Forty. I came here tonight with my husband for Valentines Day...Absolutely HORRIBLE. The worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. First we were sat at a dirty table...Our appetizer took longer than half an hour to come out and it wasnt even hot. I ordered the sirloin steak with seasoned vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. My seasoned vegetables were a joke; 99% of it was corn! Also my sirloin was cooked well done even though I asked for it to be prepared on the rare side. Not only that but no one bothered to refill our drinks. Will not be coming back.
