Had dinner with family. order cavatelli beef, pasta wasn't fully cooked. kids menu was better than our adult meals.

I was incredibly shocked and terribly disappointed to have such a miserable Thanksgiving dining experience at Kitchen 1540. I made the mistake of assuming L'Auberge would offer a fine dining experience in its restaurant. Instead, my family discovered a food and beverage experience far inferior. Everything about it was poorly executed, as if the organization is lacking a professional restaurant manager. The Restaurant made us wait 35 minutes to be seated for our 4pm reservation. We waited again twice as long after ordering to receive our meal. We had to ask for bread and butter to be brought to our table. And, the glass gas lamp center pieces on every table looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a month. If the food had tasted spectacular, some of these problems would have been tolerable, however the Holiday menu only featured four options that should have been better tasting and more quickly prepared. If the Hotel is as poorly managed as this restaurant, it's future is doomed!

Need an expensive lunch to talk business while gazing at the Pacific Ocean? Theyâ€™ve got the only game in Del Mar that's not sub par seafood for tourists. I love that you can valet park for free if you eat there. The bar has Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin for those beer aficionados out there, but what really rocked were the competent squash blossom mole tacos. What a delight! I could eat them all day. If you wanted something a little bit heavier, they have a mushroom torte that without the cheese is vegan enough. Fries are good, saladâ€™s okay, the service is impeccable, and whatâ€™s great is that you can sit anywhere on the patio you want, and they will bring an umbrella to provide you the shade that this lordship demands. What can I say? They will make you feel rich and deserve 5 stars. Iâ€™m going back.

Kitchen 1540 is an exquisite dining experience. The food is fresh, mostly local and incredibly well prepared. The room is great as well. The service was well done, attentive without being pushy.

Wow. Ate a late lunch here and it was spectacular. Had a simple cheeseburger that curled my toes. The breads hear are amazing.
