Being of Japaneses ancestry and an eater of Japanese food for all of my life, I"m always trying out new Japanese restaurants around California, Hawaii and Japan. What I've experienced in the past two decades is the evolution of Japanese food into three categories: traditional, nouveau, and fake. Yoshio is a bit of all three and unfortunately, mainly of the third. Their overuse of sauces violates the very essence of what Japanese cuisines mean to the culinary world. Properly prepared, Japanese food allows you to taste the purity and freshness of each natural ingredient. It should rejuvenate your taste buds to the clarity of real food. In the two times I've eaten at Yoshio's, they have saturated and overcooked the food so much that you are no longer eating Japanese food. It is something of it's own genre of mediocre fake. For diners who have eaten too many fast food burgers and fries, their tastes buds probably do require an over abundance of salty sauces and a large bottle of sake. For you, then Yoshio is a five-star winner.

Good sushi. Portions are a good size. Very hospitable. Sashimi wasn't the freshess. But overall a great experience

Excellent sushi! Bento boxes are very plentiful and everything is fresh. The tempura veggies are fantastic...crispy with very little oil. The service is outstanding too. Great place for lunch...fast and courteous. Highly recommended.

Excellent sushi made by talented young chefs. The Udon we had was very, very good. A neighborhood gem.
