I love this place.... I visited in 2017 during the total eclipse event in the northwest, and eventually journeyed to Eureka Cal. I had always wanted to visit the town, and looked for a good place to eat. Happily, I tried the Oberon Grill, made famous by the visit of Joseph Conrad many years ago. I had a number of meals here, and ordered appetizers, soups, and main dishes, having lunches as well as dinners. And I enjoyed everything... There was even an instance when I ordered a plate I was not sure about (because I typically did not like this sort of fair...), but as it was a daily special I tried it - and was very impressed nonetheless! The soups are delicious as are the appetizers, and the head waiter was congenial as we got to know each other. The main courses are varied and consistently intriguing. I was told by the waiter that a fine chef, who had since moved on to another city, left a number of recipes at the Oberon Grill, which has since become house dishes and specialties. Everything was excellent... And so I recommend you give Oberon a try if you are in town...! This is a rather small restaurant, but not to be missed, and offering among the finest food in Eureka.

The soups are all made from the same base and taste way to salty. Our pasta was cold and the mashed potatoes were obviously microwaved. SUGGESTIONS! Shrink your menu, get a new chef, order better quality meat and most importantly throw away the microwave. Service was nice.

So disappointing! We came in for lunch, and were hoping for some seafood. Although there is a spot on the lunch menu for a daily catch, we were told they had nothing and the best we could get was the grilled snapper sandwich. He ordered that, and I got the "fish" tacos. Although there was so little fish they should have been called lettuce tacos. I took a picture with the jam packet, so you can see just how tiny that lone, sad little piece of fish was. So although we were willing to pay $60 for two fish dinners, we were forced to order cheap lunches, and went away hungry. Shame on them. Hi owner, thanks for your response. Please read more closely. We were WILLING to pay $60 to get a real dinner at lunchtime, but it was not an option. Only the snapper sandwich, or the tacos, which we didn't really want. I should not have had to ask for more fish, the pieces were so tiny that any self respecting chef would not have let that get out of the kitchen. But hey, as long as you are proud of it, then just go read the other reviews and ignore mine if it makes you feel better.

One of Eureka's top dining options, Oberon Grill is upscale with a prominent bar and solid menu options. I have eaten here a number of times and have stopped in just for drinks and/or dessert. It won't disappoint.
