Everytime I've been to the Farmhouse I leave satisfied and happy!! The food is always great. Today had Mushroom Bisque and half a Caesar Salad. Topped it off with a serving of my personal favorite dessert.... Bread Pudding!! 😘 Moist and delicious, with apple chunks and golden raisins! I wanted to lick the plate!! Have had wonderful meals there. Had the best Thanksgiving dinner ever there last Thanksgiving! Food was just delicious, staff was soooo gracious, it was a very special experience. I love the Farmhouse! 😀

If I could give less I would. After a full day of traveling and hiking we were really excited to try out what was supposed to be a great place to eat. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and wanted a nice romantic dinner. My husband ordered the 10 oz bison and I ordered the pan fried chicken with potato wheels. The bread before the meal was three small slices of grain bread. Ok, we can deal with that as this great dinner was on its way! When our food arrived, the presentation for my husbands bison was great (complete with an lemon easter basket on top). The chicken looked good. However, it went down hill from there as my first cut included a big long curly hair embedded in the crust and meat! Well things happen so I thought I would eat the green beans and some potatoes as the waitress was with another group and I could tell her when she came to check on us. What a laugh!!!! I watched as she and the other waitress checked on the other diners not only once but twice (two semi large groups and two other couples). Although I tried to make eye contact and raise my hand politely there was no response, I guess we became invisible. So, I swallowed my pride and tried a piece of the chicken from the other side of the meat. I tasted seafood! or grease tainted with seafood. I was expecting a chicken breast but the meat was darker and oiler like a thigh. We eat all natural food at home so I know this was not the quality of meat that I was expecting from the reviews we read. My appetite was ruined, I pushed my plate away! Still no one came by to check on us, offer refills on our drinks, or anything. Finally, after my husband was done eating the other waitress (not our original) came to get the dishes. I motioned for her to come closer and LOOK at my piece of chicken with the big hair sticking out! She said she was wondering what was going on since I wasn't eating (BUT SHE COULDN'T COME OVER TO ASK???). As she looked down at the chicken she let out a small gasp said she did see it and immediately apologized. She offered to get something else for me which I declined as my husband was done and my appetite was already gone. When our original waitress came over with the check, she sincerely apologized for "that", and informed us she removed my dinner from the check. To my surprise we still paid over $74 for my husbands dinner. Do yourself a favor and go to the little Mexican place down the road. You will save money and actually get to eat your dinner.

The food was beyond amazing. For Ferndale we had always thought as the Ivanhoe as our default but after the amazing food we had, I think I'll have trouble NOT coming here instead. I'm honestly surprised that I hadn't heard more before going. The menu online is accurate and worth checking out beforehand just because there are so many quality options. Our server was a delight, knew her food and wine well and even had some background on the Locke vineyard owner. We tried both a red and white from them and both were great. The bread the restaurant serves is clearly made in house and I'm absolutely in love, and grateful both the bread and Locke vineyard wine can be purchased there. We had the Mushroom Tart for an appetizer, 5 stars. I had the mushroom bisque soup, 5 stars. Husband had the french onion soup, 5 stars. I had the Honey glazed duck and he had the hunter style filet mignon. Again, both were 5 stars. The portions are large, you WILL NOT go home hungry. The wilted kale greens was fantastic, you wouldn't even known it wasn't spinach if you didn't read the menu. In honesty, I'm holding this place to Larraupin Cafe standards. The chef here obviously loves what he does and cares, especially since he came to serve us the main course himself and even knew what wines we had paired it with despite not having taken our orders. Please go here and keep this place open, it deserves that and so much more. Whoever does the rating for best restaurants in Humboldt better hustle on down.
