Atmosphere: *** Food: ** Service: *** Both of our grown sons recommended this restaurant, but my wife and I were not impressed. We were greeted by a friendly host as we entered, and noted a couple of large screen TVs showing ball games. The seating area consists of wooden chairs and tables of reasonable size. We ordered Prime Rib French dip sandwiches with fries and diet cokes. The food came fairly quickly. We both felt the meat portions were generous enough, but the quality of the meat was unacceptable. Mine was a bit too gristly from the first bite, and we both felt the meat was too fatty. My roll tasted a bit stale, and we felt the fries were somewhat underdone. I completed my meal, but my wife chose not to eat much of hers. She said she will not return. I might give it a second try, just to try a different meat the next time. The host/manager probably would have accommodated by redoing our meal, but we decided not to mention it, as we needed to be on our way. Our waitress was attentive enough during our meal.

It's a cute little shop in downtown livermore. The sandwiches sound delicious. I've only ordered their garlic fries because the smell fills downtown. The classic garlic fries are pretty good but the fries aren't greasy enough to make the garlic stick. If you get the creamy garlic fries either ask for sauce on the side or ask to taste it first! They drown the fries in a weird tasting sauce and I'm not sure if I liked it or not. It's quite expensive and the food isn't THAT great.

What can I say? French dips, at a great downtown location, with friendly staff. These French Dips rival ANY I've had elsewhere. I've had many of them but the prime rib dip is exquisitely tender. My favorite is the fajita garlic dip but the Reuben and Austin's dip are both excellent. Mario's also got great slaw

Had a good lunch. Burger was good and tasty. French dip was kind of bland.

This place has consistently served us great food time and time again. The service is always excellent and we will continue to come here and enjoy the Mario's experience.
